"Hey, Evans!" James shouted after Lily. After Lily didn't turn around James shouted again. "Evans, didn't you hear me?" Lily still kept walking. This time James jogged to catch up with her.

"What do you want, Potter?" Lily rolled her eyes as she turned to him.

"Just thought, since, you know…" James said. "Well, do you, you know, want to go to the Yule Ball with me?"

Lily stopped dead causing James to bump into her. It was their Fifth Year and James had been trying to make friends with Lily since their First Year. "Do you mean as friends?" she asked.

"Um…" James said not knowing what to say. "Sure, as friends," as soon as the words came out he regretted them.

Lily smiled and nodded. "It would be an honor," she said just as her mother had taught her. Lily walked away giggling and excited. This would be her first ball.

James was relieved when his fellow Marauders ran up to his side.

"Prongs?" Sirius asked curious. "Why is Evans walking away and happy?"

"I don't know, Padfoot," James said teasingly. "Why don't you ask for yourself?"

At the dorms for Gryffindor James and Lily were talking.

"So, James," Lily said. "What made you want to become one of the Marauders?"

"I already knew Sirius before I got my letter for Hogwarts and here I met Peter and Lupin." James smiled a bright smile at Lily.

Lily messed with her thumbs before saying "I just thought you found these guys here while causing mischief," Lily laughed and James started laughing, too.

"Well," he said teasing. "You never judge on what you don't know," He chuckled slightly.

Lily frowned. She was just being funny, she knew not to judge. "I'm getting tired," she said and yawned. "I think I'm gonna go to bed. Goodnight."

When Lily got to the girl's dorms James headed over to the Marauders. "Was it something I said?" he asked curious to what he did wrong.

"Well," said Lupin. "You were a little bit rude. She was just teasing you, mate,"

"I was just teasing, too," he said angrily.

"Yes, but-"

"But what?" James said clearly getting more and more upset.

"Not everyone knows you as well as we do, mate," said Sirius coolly. "It really wasn't your fault,"

James, being very upset, walked off angrily to the Boy's Dormitory. He threw off his robes and jumped into bed. What did I do? He asked himself laying in bed.

Later the other Marauders came in.

"Come on, mate," said Peter. "We know you were just kidding. Now get out of bed. We're gonna go get some food from the kitchen."

"I'll grab the map." he said hauling himself up and slipping on his robes. He headed over to his trunk. He opened his messy trunk and remembered it was at the bottom. He dug threw it and finally came across the map wrapped in his Invisibility Cloak. "Found it," he held the map in the air.

"Let's get going, mates," Sirius said as he approached the door.
