Welcome to my Trigun oneshot, I hope you enjoy, this is for all the fans out there that enjoyed the series (as well as myself) and enjoy reading about Vash The Stampede!
Optimism
A man slowly walked up the stairs, did as he did every day for the past year now. He slowly carried the metal tray into the heavily bolted room. They kept 4 bolt locks on it, to make sure their 'guest' stayed inside.
Well, our man stepped inside, a bed was visable, with an undeterminable lump under a sheet. Presumably another person. The man stepped over, and set the tray by the bed. He'd eat it when he'd want to, and not knock it over. As the man started to leave the room, the man in the bed spoke.
"You know... I never quite got why you stopped me... I was making the perfect world."
"No Knives... you weren't." The first man said with a bright smile.
"Damn you... Vash."
Vash only smiled, and left his brother to his food. He was always this miserable. But he did show signs of mental recovery. This made Vash have a sense of hope for the future, maybe Knives wasn't such a bad guy. Vash slowly stepped out of the room, and locked the door behind him. As he stepped downstairs, and out of the building, Millie rushed over to him. "Hey Vash!"
Vash smiled, and rubbed the back of his neck "H-Hey Milli..." He was going to say before she grabbed him into a big hug. Stealing all the breath from his lungs.
When she let him go... and when he stopped choking and managed to stand up, he said "Wow, since you've had the child, you are so much more active."
"Yeah! I know Mr. Wolfwood would want me to be happy, so I go about trying to make myself and everyone else as happy as possible. I don't even know how I could be anymore happy!" She said, and as if Vash had a mental clock, her word-per-minute had picked up too.
"Well, good to hear it!" Vash said, laughing. "Where is Meryl?"
"She's out on the ridge, looking over the horizon. You know, I bet it's really pretty up there, you should go see her. I bet she'd enjoy the company."
Vash smiled, and got his playfully authoritative voice ready. "Only if that is an order mam."
Millie laughed as she walked off towards her house. "See you later Vash, Talk to you later!"
Vash chuckled, Millie was insane.
Well, as he thought. Meryl was on the same ridge that he was on when he contemplated what he should do before he hunted down Knives. He sat next to Meryl, which startled her a decent bit. She patted Vash on the shoulder. "You know you shouldn't do that!"
Vash was wearing his playful expression. "I didn't mean to, honest!"
Meryl shook her head "You can be such a child..."
Vash use a child like voice and asked "Aww, wha' are you Twying to say Mewyl?"
Meryl just sighed "Hopeless...'
Vash couldn't help but disagree, that was the one thing he did have. Everyone was thriving. Everyone seemed to be getting better everyday. The water wasn't running dry. Crops were growing. Millie's baby was nice and healthy. Knives was coming around his depression, and dealing with being paralyzed in his left arm, Vash has shot the main nerves and through the bone of that arm, killing what nerves were in it. Minor nerves remained, but not enough to retain function of the arm. And, Vash had been able to cope with his past, and live on with Rem, and not live on for her.
Meryl had to agree, the world seemed to be coming around. She even managed to get the Bountry on Vash cleared up with the profits they got from the Insurance Co. She also had something she wanted to tell Vash... but he could wait.
It would give him something to be Optimistic about..
The End
