Well, I read the Hunger Games and loved it, but I felt an instant bond in particular with Castor and Pollux, being a twin. So, here's a little oneshot!
I don't own The Hunger Games!end/AN/
The look on Pollux's face when they took him away haunted Castor, even long after they were back together. It had been a simple prank gone wrong; they had been too immature to realize what they were setting in motion. But, when a high-ranking official loses an ear, someone's going to get their life turned upside down, if it's not ended completely.
They'd only caught Pollux; Castor had only been able to watch in horror as his brave twin took all the blame, face pale and lips quivering. He'd only been one month shy of 13. They both had been.
He hadn't seen him after that, and their father discouraged trying to find where he'd been put; it took a lot of time to locate him in the underground system. It took even more time for him and his mother to ferret away money to get him somewhere safer.
Even after five years, when Castor saw Pollux again, neither of them could speak to the other; one for lacking a tongue, the other because of petty rules in place to punish 'criminals'. Castor nearly broke his hand punching a wall after having to leave Pollux at his position in a studio; it was unbearable for twins who had once spoken every minute they weren't being shushed.
He took a low job at the same studio the next day, knowing he couldn't be separated from his brother any longer; with his father's power, he could have done better. But it was more important to see his twin every day, to watch the dark hollows beneath his eyes fill back in again.
When Pollux was upgraded to cameraman, Castor was surprised by getting the same offer by the same woman: Cressida. It seemed she understood their pain, because she took them both into her office and shut the door. That was the day she made her offer; it was also the first time the twins got to communicate since Pollux had been taken away.
Cressida continued to facilitate these visits, and the twins' passion for the cause and their loyalty to her grew stronger throughout their time at the studio. When it came time to jump ship, they followed willingly.
The crazy ride after that split them forever.
/AN/So, good headcanon? Bad headcanon? Would it make for a good chaptered story? I'm just dipping my toes in this fandom, so I wanted to see what kind of reception I'd get…
