Can't let Alex down

It's been few days now, I'm sitting in darkness, alone again like I always am-always have been since this happened. They never bother me if they don't have anything to ask about Alex or MI6. And when they ask, I won't say anything. I can't let Alex down.

Leader is big, bold buy, who always asks questions with falsely nice and polite voice, with maliciously fake smile on his face. I never say anything-and when he doesn't get answers nicely, he summons his friend-a thin, pale, young boy (I like to call him a boy), who starts to tell about things that he can do to me-torture, rape and others I don't even wan't to think about. And when Boy is finished talking, Leader asks the same question: "Where is Alex Rider?" When he does, I always answer the same way:

"I don't now, and if I knew, I would never tell you."

That's not exactly true-I do now where he is, but I'm still not telling. I can't let Alex down.

Today was different. The Leader came early-at least, I think he did, since I wasn't shure what time it was-and he said: "Kid, this is your last chance, I don't wanna hurt you, but he"-Leader pointed his finger at the Boy-"does. Tell me where Alex Rider is and we won't hurt you."

"So you could just go there and kill him? There's no way in hell that I'm going to tell you where he is," I said bravely, but still I was scared. I hate pain and naturally, I wan't to save myself, but I can't let Alex down.

"It's your choice, kid-do what you wan't with her. But make shure she can talk after it.

Leader left the room and left me there alone with the Boy. Boy looked me, like he he was going to eat me. I saw the evil, insane glow in his eyes when he came closer.

"Well, you haven't answered our questions nicely, so I can have my little fun with you. Where do we start?" he murmured, seeming to scan me over with his eyes. I was half dead from fear when he approached me with a large knife, but I did my best not to show it. I can't let Alex down.

"Now, where shall we start, from the fingers or toes?"

I closed my eyes. I have to be strong. I can't let Alex down.

It was all over the news-a story of a young girl who was kidnapped and then found few days later. She was already dead when they found her-covered in blood, obviously tortured to death. There was an oddly serene smile on her face.

Nobody knew what had happened and why, nobody except Alex Rider. He sat in Blunt's office, listening to the facts about Sabina's death. He was angry and sad, but still felt he felt proud. Sabina didn't let him down.

The last thing that flashed through Sabina's mind before blessed peace of death was those last, familiar words that she would cling to forever-that was impossible to forget, that would always be in her head, her motto, the reason she was sacrificing herself: "I can't let Alex down, I can't let Alex down, I can't let Alex down..."

She smiled to herself, feeling oddly at peace with her choice, and closed her eyes...
