"-such an ungrateful asshole, Sasuke?" Naruto's mature (but somehow, still childish) voice asked.
"Because I didn't want to come back to Konoha then." Sasuke explained for what must be the fiftieth time, looking at Naruto as if he might be retarded.
"Really? You didn't put up much of a fight."
"Yes, really. I didn't put up much of a fight because…" And that was where Sasuke refused to continue.
"You knew I could beat you."
"No. I-" The truth was, Naruto was right, but not because Naruto was stronger. Sasuke and he were equals, and Sasuke's level-headedness gave him an advantage. Naruto was right because, when Naruto had finally tracked him down, Sasuke had just nearly been killed by his brother.
"You know I'm right."
Sasuke would never admit it. "You're acting like a child."
"So what if I am? You're rude. Almost ten years later and you still won't admit that I saved your life." Sasuke wouldn't have been surprised if Naruto had stuck out his tongue at him.
"You didn't. Sakura did. You, being your idiot self, spazzed out and started saying stuff about how you were glad that I was going back to Konoha, which I had no intention of doing."
"You didn't say anything."
"Yeah, it was kind of hard to talk, what with choking on my own blood and everything…" Sasuke said sarcastically.
"You should be thankful! And eventually, you were glad that we took you back, right?"
"You dragged me back to Konoha against my will."
"And look now! You're an ANBU captain, and I don't think you'd leave anytime soon."
"I wouldn't. But I didn't want to come back then. Can't you understand that?"
"No, I can't. Really, why do you have to be-"
