James S. Potter and the Mischief-Makers

for gryffindorpride1007's "Potter/Weasley Challenge"

My name is James Sirius Potter and I'm the second-eldest son of Harry and Ginny Potter, the eldest son being my god-brother, Teddy Remus Lupin.

Ever since I was seven years old I'd always wondered why my parents named me "James Sirius". I'd ask them why and they'd always reply with the same answer, "We'll tell you when you're older."

Geez, that got annoying over the years.

Anyway, now that I'm seventeen, I think I have the right to know the reason behind my name.

"James?".

My little sister, Lily, just walked in. She's fourteen and, unfortunately, has a boyfriend.

"Yes, Lil?", I replied.

"Did Mum and Dad ever tell you the reason behind your name? I just asked them about my name and they told me "I'll-"

"'Tell you when you're older.' " I finished for her.

She nodded her head, "Yeah. I know I was named for Grandmum Lily, but that's all they would tell me."

"You also share her birthday as well. Dad told me that when I was five."

As soon as dinner was done that night, I sat in the living room with my dad, waiting for his answer to my ten-year-old question.

Finally, my dad sighed as he picked his head up off the back of the couch.

"James, " he said, after a brief silence, "the reason behind your name is because you were named after your grandfather, James Potter, while your middle name came from my god-father, Sirius Black." He sighed and wiped away a few tears. I realized how painful saying that was because, during my sixth year History of Magic class, Professor Binns talked about the Marauders and called them by name: Remus, Peter, Sirius and James. Binns also told us of how my grandparents died and of the battle of the Department of Mysteries.

My dad described the Final Battle to me and told me about the Resurrection stone, of how he finally got to see Grandmum and Granddad, Sirius and Remus again.

I stared at him in total concintration that I didn't notice the group of angels standing in the corner of the room until one of them gave a bark-like laugh, causing my dad and I to jump out of our skins.

We joined in and Dad introduced them to me.

"James," he said," these are your grandparents-my Mum and Dad- Sirius Black and Remus Lupin."

He smiled at me.

"Mum, Dad, Sirius, Remus, " he added turning toward the group, "this is my son, James Sirius Potter. Named for two pranksters and the greatest men I ever knew."

As I watched the shocked looks on their faces turn to identical, wide smiles, Granddad and Sirius laughed and thanked Dad for honoring them.
