Now that the first year of Forever Darkness has been finished, I will be publishing some other stories as well, though this might be slower as my main object is the former. So I wouldn't be updating very frequently. Oh, and Tom will be a bit OOC in this story due to the plot. Thankyou.

Prologue: That Time

"What is it, my queen? What is it that makes you hurt so?"

The soft melodic voice of Lady Daphne Potter nee Greengrass rang out in the quietness of the room, where only the faint weeping could be heard. The queen hadn't come down to the party, which was now being hosted instead by her younger brother, prince Draco, who was back from his school in Scotland.

The crying stopped, yet it was a long time before the queen spoke. Spoke, with so much pain in her voice that it made Daphne flinch. In her memory, the queen had always been so strong, was because of her that the kingdom didn't crumble after the death of her father, the late king Lucius. That and the fact that the nobles feared and respected her for her powers to control the elements of snow.

Sorcery was not common here in Lanslorder, and there were only a few of them alive nowadays, and the only ones known were the queen and Lord Thomas Riddle of Hangelton.

"Did you ever thought, Lady Daphne, what your life would be like if it hadn't been Harry you married? Or if you two didn't love each other in the first place? What a marriage would be like without love."

The queen looked up, and Daphne saw that her eyes, though rimmed with red, were as cold as ice. She shook her head, and the queen chuckled dryly.

"I never thought of that either, not until what happened at least." Her piercing blue eyes met Daphne's soft green ones, and asked, in a voice barely above a whisper," has anyone ever told you, what happened that summer, two years ago?"

Two years ago... of course, everyone knew that something had happened to her during that time. The change had been too drastic, and no one could ignore it.

The queen, no princess, had just returned from her five years study at Durmstrang School of Sorcery, and the change in her was so drastic, that she was hardly recognizable when she returned.

Gone were the gold locks and pink cheeks, replaced by silver ones and cheeks covered with frost, and skin cold as ice. From what she had heard, the royal family had had a long talk that night, and then the next morning, everything went about as usual, except that the king refused every single proposal for his daughter's hand in marriage. Rumor was that the queen had fallen in love with a fellow student at school, but things hadn't turned out very well.

So Daphne shook her head," just rumors, your majesty."

"And the rumors are true," the queen's gaze met Daphne's, and she felt herself being drawn into the icy pool of blue, unable to pull away." But that's not the only thing that happened,"

The queen dropped her gaze to her hands, which were now twisting in her lap. And when she finally looked up, Daphne saw tears in her eyes, temporarily pushing the everlasting ice away.

"I froze my heart that night."

Ok, so that's the prologue. I hope to be up with chapter one within a month, and yes I'm not a fast typer. Read and Review!
