As soon as the mission was complete and Ulrich and Yumi were devirtualized, Odd ran off back to Kadic to find Samantha before Jeremié could finish his description of the codes he implanted. Ulrich and Yumi then set off to prepare for a spectre attack.
"Which leaves just us," Jeremié motioned to Aelita and William.
"What do we do, then?" William asked.
"We'll wait for an attack. I'll need you two to stay just in case this mission fails. We'll have to deactivate the tower the old-fashioned way if that happens,"
"If," Aelita grinned, earning a smile in return.
Jeremié moved back into his seat and began scanning and saving codes for future use. Aelita looked around the lab, trying to find someplace she can relax for a while, and decided on the small step just beside the supercomputer's hologram of Lyoko. William just stood, unsure of what to do – unsure of what he could do. Aelita began rummaging through her bag and fished out her phone. Turning on a favourite application of hers, she glanced at William who was standing sheepishly near the lift. Her glance caught his eye and she motioned for him to sit across her on the opposite step. Thankful for something he could do, he gladly accepted the offer.
But now what? He fiddled with his fingers, gingerly looking around the lab. Noticing his unease, Aelita pondered how she could change that. She turned to sneakily look at Jeremié with a smile then closed the app she was on and began to type. Feeling his phone vibrate in his pocket, he flipped it out and read who the text was from – huh. He looked up from his phone to find Aelita grinning at him. Raising an eyebrow, he read the text:
Well this is fun. – A
He almost snorted. He began to type a reply until Jeremié called Aelita over to check something on the supercomputer. He deleted what he began to type and locked his phone. Fun indeed, he thought, watching the pair work on more technical stuff he barely understood.
After she finished, Aelita sat back on the step she was sat on before and checked her phone, suddenly giving off a light frown. She began typing again and William had his phone ready. But there were no vibrations this time. In fact, her frown turned into a competitive grin to a look of triumph. Oh. He lay all the way down on the step, let out a sigh, and placed his arms behind his head. He heard a silent giggle, and pushed himself up a bit so he could see Aelita – and she's laughing at me. What did I do? He smirked back at her until he noticed Jeremié catching a few glances at them both.
He lay back down, smirking at the ceiling of the lab. Suddenly he felt his phone vibrate again and his arm reached straight for it.
Are you bored enough to read a French textbook? – A
Yet again, he sat up and watched as Aelita shook the textbook in his direction. Giving her a lopsided headshake, William took the textbook and shot Aelita one of his famous smirks in thanks. She stifled back a few sniggers and went back to playing on her phone, as William began to read the textbook to pass the time.
