Prologue
Rain poured angrily down onto the surface of Jump City as if it had a personal vendetta against the city, and with the way the day had gone, it wouldn't have surprised the Teen Titans if it did.
Crumbles of road and rubble of buildings scattered along the broken streets of their once valued city. The air was thick with smoke and dust and there wasn't a soul in sight. They were all either evacuated or killed.
Light poured from the sky, but the sun was unrecognizable, leaving Starfire unable to make contact with the yellow orb and heavily treading her bruised feet along the dirty asphalt. The four Titans stood, panting heavily, as they glared at their ultimate foe; Slade Wilson.
"Such a shame," his voice was sickeningly sweet and chaste, "that the Titans are brought down by only one humble fellow such as myself."
"Humble?" It was Robin who spat the word as if it were acid, "you are a vile, sick man, on ranks with the Joker!" He lunged at Slade in one last effort to destroy the mortal man with his bo staff. He lunged in an attacking stance didn't even see his lightning fast reflexes as his air supply was suddenly cut and Slade held Robin by the throat.
"Yes, humble," Slade's voice grew deathly calm as the other Titans could do more than watch in fear of their leader getting crushed like a grape. "You see, this drug, mirakuru, makes me immortal. It makes me unstoppable. And now that I have converted it into a toxin, nobody is safe. I have the power to create my own army of undefeatable humans. You," Slade squeezed Robin's neck harder and Starfire cried out. "Can't stop me," Slade pulled out a syringe and jammed it into Robin's forearm.
"Raven!" Starfire cried out. "That's the drug!" Tears streamed down her face.
"I know, Star," the teammates watched in horror as Robin's body fell limp in Slade's arms as he tossed it aside like nothing.
"In a few hours, he will awake with a bloodthirst stronger than his will to survive. With the bird on my side, I can go after those he cares about. I can destroy Jump City and with time, I can control the world."
"You will never win!" Starfire screamed as the four remaining Titans attacked. Beast Boy turned into a jaguar and ran at full speed at Slade with his teeth bore. Cyborg started firing gunshot and cannons at him while Raven started chanting mantras to trap Slade in one space. Starfire ran over to Robin, who looked lifeless on the ground, his lips as pale as death.
She pulled him over so he was laying on his back. Her eyes were blurred with tears and her chest was pounding. She placed her head on his chest and closed her eyes.
There was no heartbeat.
"No!" She whispered in disbelief. Her world stopped spinning she Starfire forgot how to breathe. Slade's drug did only have a 12% survival rate. "X'Hal, no!" Robin was exceptional at everything he did, why couldn't he defy all odds on this too?!
"Aw, did the birdie not make it?" Slade's voice came from everywhere in Starfire's booming ears. "Pity," his voice was laced with a smile.
All Starfire could see was green.
She let out an ear piercing screech that even had Slade wincing. She stood from her lover's lifeless body and turned sharply toward Slade who was intently watching her. Her orange skin glowed and her eyes boomed with energy. Her hands sparked with star bolts that she shot in the air to create a direct pathway for sunlight to beat down on her.
Nobody moved. None of the Titans has ever seen Starfire like this before, and although they knew she'd never hurt them, they feared what she would do in general. Starfire's eyes locked on Slade's and without breaking eye contact, she spoke to the Titans.
"Take Robin and evacuate the city. Slade shall pay. Go!" Starfire didn't even watch as the three remaining Titans took their leaders body and evacuated the city to the hilltops in their respected forms as fast as they could. When they were out of sight, Starfire turned to Slade.
"You have killed my love." Her fingers started to throw sparks. "You have destroyed my home." She fired a warning bolt at Slade who took it full on in the chest. He only grunted in discomfort but kept his eyes trained on the alien princess. "You have broken my family." She shot three more bolts, all of which hitting Slade in some form, but he still seemed unaffected.
"You will pay!" Starfire's entire being glowed brightly as her hands and eyes lit up bright green and engulfed her and Slade in a dome of green star bolt energy. She let out a scream as her power continued to grow tenfold and her anger didn't decapitate. She was seething and she couldn't control her energy.
Starfire's dome of deadly energy continued to grow until all of Jump City was in its space. From a distance, it looked like a nuclear bomb. Starfire floated in the center of it, continuously struggling to not let it engulf anymore that it already has. Starfire could feel herself growing tired of containing so much energy, but she couldn't help it. Her powers depended on emotions, and she was a swimming pool of them at the moment. With one last breath, Starfire let a tear roll down her cheek as darkness consumed her and she fell from the air.
"What do you want to do about her? She practically leveled a city!" A female voice could be heard. It was crisp and unhappy. It was also majorly foggy.
"Diana, we can't just lock her up like a prisoner, she is a hero, like us. And like us, she is trying to protect the world." A male, calmer voice said. This time, it was more distinguishable.
"Clark! She literally killed dozens of people!"
"For the greater good of the world! Don't tell me we haven't suffered a few casualties!" Starfire groaned. Their voices were so loud!
"Shh! Both of you! She is waking up," Cyborg! God, how Starfire longed for a familiar voice.
"Cyborg?" Starfire's eyes took a moment to adjust to her surroundings. Wonder Woman, Superman, Cyborg, and Batman stood around her. Well, three of them did. Batman stood in the corner, analyzing her.
"Sh, Star, I'm right here. God, you scared us, little lady," Starfire smiled. It was indescribably wonderful to have such a caring friend there with her. Memories of what happened flooded her mind.
"Cyborg?" Her eyes filled with tears as she grabbed his cybernetic hand. He was quick to pull her into an embrace.
"Starfire, what's the last thing you remember?" This time it was Superman who spoke. Starfire looked up at him and wiped her eyes.
"Slade killed Robin." She choked back a sob. "My powers take from my emotions and I kinda lost it. I remember feeling anger and sadness, but nothing else." She looked down. "Please, what has happened since then?"
"Star, that was four months ago," Cyborg said quietly. Starfire gasped. No. That was only a few hours ago.
"What?" She asked.
"Four months ago, Slade had defeated you all. In an act of desperation to finish you off, he impaled Robin with mirokuru, when the toxin failed, you reacted unexpectedly and leveled the city, killing over fifty civilians in the process," Batman spoke in one, cold tone and Starfire couldn't hide the shock on her face.
"No," she whispered. "I would never kill anyone."
"Well, including Slade, many died on your hands." Diana was the one to snap. Starfire visibly flinched at her rough words and fought back a sob. She turned to Cyborg for confirmation who nodded solemnly.
"It's true," he mumbled. "But nobody blames you," he said, glaring at Diana. "Our line of work requires sacrifices." He tried to make her feel better, but Starfire wasn't having it.
"And the rest of the Titans?" Starfire asked. "I mean, I understand Robin is dead and that it is my fault," she took a shuddering breath. "But Raven? Beast Boy?" Cyborg smiled and Starfire saw pure joy on his face.
"Starfire, Robin is fine. He is alive and well." For what felt like the millionth time in the past few moments of waking up, Starfire choked back a sob, but this time it was one of pure and utter happiness.
"Really?" She asked. Cyborg nodded.
"He hasn't stopped coming by to see you. He'll be thrilled you're okay." Cyborg said. Superman nodded at Cyborg.
"Why don't you go tell him the news." Cyborg nodded and squeezed Starfire's hand before leaving the room. Starfire glanced at the three Justice League members and suddenly felt very intimidated.
"Starfire, I don't believe in small talk, so I will explain your situation bluntly," Batman spoke. "We understand you are merely a child and have yet to control your powers in comparison to the rest of the Justice League team, but what happened at your hands, be it intentional or not, was not acceptable." Starfire would have protested against being called a child if the situation wasn't so dire. She is the princess of a plant, for fuck's sake!
"There are limited measures we can take from here on regarding your powers that will ensure the safety of the planet, and after much consider-"
"I understand," Starfire interrupted. All three League members looked at one another. Nobody has ever cut off Batman and they didn't know how to react. Starfire looked straight ahead and off into the distance.
"May I ask a request?" Starfire asked. Superman nodded.
"I understand what I have done and the troubles it has brought. I apologize deeply for hurting Robin, I know he was under your care before the Teen Titans was made, and nothing I can do will make up for the regret I feel toward those I have killed." A few tears fell from her eyes as she took a shaky breath. I am not human, and I never will be. Maybe I belong on Tamaran with my people," at this point, she was simply speaking her thoughts. "May I ask for the assistance to get back home to Tamaran?" She asked. Before any League member could answer her, though, the doors busted open and Robin came running in with Raven and Beast Boy behind him.

"Star!"
"Robin!"
They both embraced strongly and tightly. X'Hal, she missed her friends.
"Miss Starfire," Starfire turned to Batman who was retreated through the doors with the other League members. "Consider it done." He said. Starfire nodded, letting more tears fall from her eyes before turning to Robin and kissing him soundly on the lips.
So, that was the prologue...yes, it doesn't answer a lot of questions that the rest of the chapters will bring up, but it gives a faint idea of what happened...
Lemme know what you think!
