"Shit!" Mulder shouted, slamming his hand against the steering wheel.

Beside him, a very pissed Dana Scully glared at him, though her mused hair, coupled with her bleary eyes, spoiled the effect.

"What's going on, Mulder?" she asked, rubbing her eyes.

"The damn car broke down," he replied, glaring at the steering wheel as though as it did something to offend him.

Scully closed her eyes, grimacing. It had been bad enough that Skinner had forced them to attend a partnership seminar, after finding out that they had managed to wriggle out of every of the previous ones. They so did not need that partnership seminar at all. They were partners in every way possible, and trusted each other implicitly; they did not need some stupid partnership seminar to tell them that! Scully thought indignantly. And now, they were stuck on some highway in some part of America and she didn't know if there were anyone in a hundred mile vicinity.

"Mulder," she started patiently, "have you thought to check the gas tank before you left?" she asked, looking at him.

She watched with satisfaction when he winced, shifting uncomfortably in his seat.

"Uh... No," he said at last, sighing. He looked at the gas gauge, and was not surprised to see that it was completely empty now.

Scully let a evil smirk make its way to her face, gleefully observing Mulder's look of fear.

"Mulder, you are so going to pay," she growled, before attacking him.

It was the next morning when the sun started its march across the sky that they got round to calling a tow truck.

Tada! How was it?
