She couldn't believe he was gone

She couldn't believe he was gone. After only one day of what happened, he was gone. And now she was practically gone as well. Home was boring, school seemed lonely even when she was hanging around with Tomoyo, and she was missing more and more of her cheerleading practice. It was as if her heart was ripped in half and he had taken one-half with her.

--

"Sakura, what's wrong?" Tomoyo asked, crouching down beside her in the school field as she was curled into a ball sobbing. She mumbled something, except it was all muffled and the only word she could hear was 'Li'. "What?" she asked, shaking her friend's shoulders. Sakura looked up, tears still dripping down her cheeks. Tomoyo looked amazed as her mouth formed the word 'Syaoran'. Sakura started crying again and Tomoyo hugged her friend. "Calm down," she said desperately. Sakura shook her head and ran off. How could she calm down? How could she cope? She wanted to fall into his arms and cry until all fluids were gone from her body. Then, as she fell facedown into the concrete just hard enough to make her shin bleed, the bell for registration rang.

--

Sakura limped into class, blood trickling down into her white socks, turning them crimson. In fact, she limped so slowly that the whole class had sat down before she was halfway to her desk. Flushing slightly, Tomoyo grabbed Sakura's arm and pulled her with such force that Sakura was forced to speed up.

She seemed lifeless as she answered her name on the register, and as everybody left for home, as it was a short school day because of the holidays, Sakura was still sat at her desk, her head buried in her arms, sobbing as though her heart was tearing in thirds as she sat there, her whole body shaking with the force of the sobs. Soon enough, even the teacher was gone and Sakura was left alone. But just as she was sure that she had cried herself out, she felt arms around her. 'Huh?' she thought, looking up and, sure enough, she saw the boy with brown locks in front of her, bright red, but holding her. He was there.

"Syaoran," she whispered, crying into his chest. He burned a brighter shade, but tightened his grip on her and stroked her hair. "Sakura," he whispered, so close she could feel his breath rising and descending down her neck, down her shirt and laying on her shoulder. She gradually turned red, too. "I… love.. you." with each word, each syllable, he tightened his grip on her until he was constricting her. She tilted her head up and he rubbed her cheeks, clearing them of the tears and grief. "O…oh…" she gasped. She was so close, and how could she resist… she leaned up to him and kissed him. Not rushing, or scared, or showing off. She genuinely just placed her lips over his and waited for his reply. She didn't have to wait long- he put one hand to her cheek and pulled her closer for a deeper kiss.

--

Tomoyo smiled and clicked the lens cap onto her camera. "I didn't even have to run after her with a Clow… I mean, Sakura Card this time," she whispered happily, creeping away from the homeroom and rushing out of school before either Sakura or Syaoran could spot her…
