When It Rains
"...someone out there in the world has lost someone. But remember, if it rains, that person is not gone forever. They'll always watch over you, love you and make sure you're safe. The End." Lily Potter whispered the last two words as she looked down at her sleeping baby son, Harry.
"You know, those stories are beyond his thoughts..." A voice said from the doorway. Lily jumped and turned around,
"James, you scared me! You never know who might be there."
James walked over to her, wrapped his arms around her waist and whispered,
"I'm sorry..."
Lily smiled,
"What's
wroung with my stories?"
"Harry's so young he doesn't
want to hear about morals and other boring things like that! He wants
to hear about Green Eggs and Ham, Thomas the Tank Engine and Winnie
the Pooh! Not about people dying and remembering their always there."
Lily shook her head,
"He needs to know we'll be there for him no matter what happens."
"Do you really think he understands?"
Lily looked down into Harry's crib, he rolled over in his sleep and continued to suck on his pacifer,
"I think he understands alot more than you think. Besides, what's he going to learn from rotten eggs, alive trains and a bear with a bad name?"
"It so happens those are my favourite childrens books!"
Lily laughed and kissed James,
"Well these are mine," She held up one of the stories she had just read to Harry.
James's nose wrinkled,
"But their so...Dull."
"Well yours are so...Unbelievable."
"At least mine aren't dull."
"Mine are realistic. Anyway I'm the one reading to him at night, so I choose. If you want him to hear about Green Eggs and Ham, then you can read to him."
"Then I will! Tomorrow Harry hears about 'Sam I Am'!"
"Then the next night he hears about treating people the way he wants to be treated."
"And then Thomas!"
Lily laughed,
"Your still a child at heart, aren't you James?"
James nodded,
"Why, of course-" They both heard an explosion coming from the front door. "We have company, Lily take Harry out the back door. I'll try and hold them back..."
Lily looked up into James's eyes,
"I love you, be careful."
"Love you too, honey," he pecked her on the cheek, pulled his wand out and strolled determinedly out of the room.
Lily grabbed Harry and ran out of the room, heading towards the end of the small house they were staying in. Harry began to wake in her arms, she looked down at him,
"It's okay sweetie, everything's going to be fine. Mummy's here..."
"Avada Kedavra!"
Green light filled the house, Lily could feel tears welling up, she brushed them away and tried to unlock the door with her key. She couldn't use her wand, they had made sure the locks couldn't be unlocked by magic. A cold charp voice spoke from behind her,
"Hand over the boy."
Lily slowly reached for her wand and muttered a spell, gently tapping Harry on the head,
"Kill me, just leave Harry, he's only a child!"
The voice laughed, a horrible laugh,
"Avada Kedavra!"
Green light flashed once more, as Lily fell to the ground. Outside rain began to fall as Lord Voldemort walked over to baby Harry, who sat on top of his mother's motionless body.
"We'll get this over and done with, shall we Harry?"
Voldemort raised his wand-
