It was a battle of wills that seemed to go on forever. She continually hovered around him, watching as his eyes followed her bouncing movement. She knew that he was annoyed by her; everyone else was. The difference was that he would never actually admit his feelings. The fairy was both amused and frustrated by his nobility and holding of the tongue.
All she wanted to do was hear his voice, just once. To hold onto when she had to leave him. Sure, he screamed a bit, sometimes let out a grunt, but none of them were true words that she could remember. It just seemed that Link was dead-set on keeping quiet, and nothing that she did could make him break that self-driven vow.
She had tried telling him the same pointless information over and over again, trying to beat that damn owl in a battle of monotony. She exclaimed random words again and again, obviously testing his patience. He was easy to read, despite his lack of words. His face would always contort when he was concentrating or trying to solve a temple's puzzle. His eyebrows would furrow when he was upset. His smile could light up a room when he was happy.
Link tried to brush her away from his face, focusing on a switch that located across a small lava pit. She ignored his swatting, forcing herself closer to him and looking him in the eye. In a cool, casual voice, she gave him the most useless information that she had.
"Be careful! There's lava around here!"
At this Link basically exploded, letting out a stream of silent cursing. Navi grumbled, floating behind him and slipping into his hat. His tirade had apparently ended, for he was still once more. It was another thing that she liked about him; he didn't stay angry for too long.
To be honest, she was quite amazed at how long he had been able to go without losing it. Even when faced with Kaepora Gaebora he never faltered, listening to the owl with a glazed look in his eyes while Navi buzzed around angrily. If she had been in his place, she would have chucked a bomb at the demon bird.
However, no matter how much she admired him, he was going to have to break. There was no way that she was going back to the forest with nothing but his screams of terror in her mind. Squirming out of his cap, she buzzed back around to his face. His right brow lifted, showing his curiosity. Drawing in a breath, she shouted once again in normal fashion.
"HEY! LISTEN!"
A/N: Wow, that was short and pointless. This was spawned from an hour and a half of Ocarina of Time and boredom. I kind of wanted to delve a little bit into Navi's character, as I think that she has reasons behind her annoying exclaimations.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed it! Please leave a review, it would mean a lot to me!
