*CLANG!*
*Tap, tap, tap...*
Those two sounds woke me up from my stupor. I was in a room I'd never been in, and an odd detective came up to me.
"So, you're the co-leader of the Phantom Thieves?" she asked, pulling out a clipboard.
"I just woke up, miss, my mind's still trying to re-gather itself."
"That'll have to work for me..." The detective said with a sigh. She sat down and introduced herself. "I'm Sae Nijima, the detective on the case of the Phantom Thieves. Are you aware you have connections to the leader of the Phantom Thieves?"
I thought about it for a second. The leader of the Phantom Thieves... She must've been talking about Joker.
"Yeah... Is that a problem?"
"It means you have two options. Option A, you go to prison, or option B, you tell me your story and I'll consider giving you an alternate sentence."
"Ma'am, I'm already in enough trouble as is, I don't think prison's gonna help me out any more."
"Alright. Before you tell me anything, though, I need you to sign this confession."
Sae slid over the clipboard, along with a pen, and pointed to the space where I had to sign. I pushed the pen back, took out another pen that I had been carrying around, and signed what would confirm that my choice was made: my name, Prulienne Chromiya.
"There you go. Now, where do I begin...?"
I leaned back into the seat, crossing my legs and putting them on the edge of the table. "I think this all should start where I met him."

"Pruli, c'mon! You promised you'd come to the party!" My friend yelled in my ear over the phone.
"I know, I know," I replied, adjusting my bag with my free hand. "But my mom asked me to babysit her neighbor's kids or else she was taking away her usual birthday present."
"Ugh, fiiine. I'll let him know you had an emergency come up."
I smiled. "Thanks. I'll try not to rain-check next time."
"You better not rain-check next time!"
"Yeah, yeah. Anyway, I gotta go, need to call back up my mom, I need directions."
Before the friend could reply, I hung up the phone and put it in my pocket. I lied. I had already been partied out, and I just wanted to get home and take a nap.
I turned the corner to walk towards my house and saw a bald man abusing a woman outside of a house. I started getting up closer, then saw a kid in a school uniform of sorts walking towards them, in the hopes of breaking the fight up. So I paused, pulling out my phone in case I needed to contact emergency services. I had my hand over the call button when I saw the bald man push the kid down and say "You fool. The police are my bitches. They're not gonna take you seriously."
Telling by the tone of the voice, I deduced the bald man was drunk, but I couldn't stand to see abuse happening. So I turned my phone off, pushing the bald man. He stumbled, then turned to face me. "Ugh, another impudent brat. Fuck off, this is a personal matter."
"Not when it involves abuse where people can easily see it," I replied.
The man struck me in the forehead, and I fell backwards with the force. "You two would be better off running. The police'll be here any time soon, and I'll tell them you were attacking me."
"N-No, you won't." The kid that was pushed down replied, getting back up.
"Oh really? Then stay here and I'll show you."
I didn't have the time for this, so I started to leave, but the kid held me back. "You're a witness in this, you should stay."
Damn. His logic was right. I followed his logic and stood there, bruises on my elbows from the fall, as police cars pulled up.
"Officers," the bald man said to them. "These two were attacking me."
I tried to open my mouth, but before I could, the officers apprehended me and the kid, putting us in the car and driving us off to the police station.
On the way, I turned to the kid. "Kinda unfair, huh?"
"Mmhmm. Almost as if something influenced this." He replied.
"Guess we should get to know each other since we got caught up in some stupid shit."
The kid nodded. "Ren Amamiya. Not really that much you need to know about me. Pretty much average in most regards."
"Nice to meet you, Ren. I'm Prulienne Chromiya, but my friends call me Pruli."
"Nice to meet you right back at you, then, Pruli."
The officer told us to shut up. We did so. I looked over at Ren and smiled, but he didn't notice. Something told me we were going to be roped up in something complicated after all this, but I'd have no idea what.

Saving your progress...
?
Pruli, Ren
Alright, that's it for the prologue. My main goal is to try to keep this somewhat close to canon, but that probably won't be the case.
I should also make a disclaimer: I've never actually played the game. Don't have a PS4, too broke to buy one. So I'm gonna put it right here, shout-out to NicoB on YouTube for making a Let's Play of the game that I'm using as a basis.
Anything regarding stat raising, like the movie theatre, classroom questions, anything of those sorts is going to get skipped, but I'm going to include the Confidants in here somehow as well.
The whole save file thing is something I'm doing for just this story. Shout-out to AuraChannelerChris for implementing the same kinda thing in The Subspace Emissary's Worlds Conquest, which is one of the stories I'm reading right now.
After saying all that, I'm ready to get this story officially started. Leave a follow if you like it so far, review if you have any positive comments that'll bring my mood up or any negative comments that I can build upon, and I'll see you all next chapter. Inktavia signing out!
