Pairing: Solkat (matespritship)
Karkat looked at the welcome mat on his best friend's doorstep, holding a bouquet of red and blue flowers behind his back. 'Buzz off? I wish,' He thought as he heard a lispy voice telling him to wait a second. He started to play with the stem on one of the flowers.
Today was the human holiday Valentine's Day, and Karkat was nervous.
The young troll waited in the February wind until his friend opened the door with his psionics and told him to come in. As he stepped in, the door shut and his mustardblooded friend walked into the room shirtless. Karkat looked away, a light red blush painted on his cheeks. "Hey KK," Sollux lisped, his speech mumbled by his red-and-blue glasses in his mouth as he towel dried his hair off. "What'th up?"
"UH, WELL," Karkat stammered. "YOU SEE, I HEARD FROM ROSE THAT IT'S VALENTINE'S DAY TO THEM TODAY AND I WAS WONDERING..."
"Wondering what?" Sollux raised an eyebrow, slipping on a shirt and his glasses.
"UH..."
"KK, thpit it out." Sollux shoved his hands in his jeans pockets. "You thound like Tavroth."
"I-I was wondering if you would be my valentine." Karkat muttered quickly, thrusting the roses out toward Sollux, who was blushing bright yellow with his mouth agape. "KK, I..."
Karkat cleared his throat and quietly said, "If you don't want to, I understand. I probably shouldn't have asked anyways for the fear of ruining the only good friendship I fuck-" Karkat's word vomit was cut off by Sollux, who was taking Karkat's hands with the roses in his and kissing the mutantblood's blushing cheek gently. "KK, thut up." Sollux smirked.
"I...D-... WHAT..." Karkat's light blush quickly turned to a bright candy red as he stammered. Sollux put his finger to Karkat's lips. "I thaid," Sollux chuckled. "Thooth, KK. No need for wordth. I'd gladly bee your valentine."
Karkat was speechless. Sollux actually WANTED to be his valentine? This was a shocker to him. Sollux put a hand on Karkat's shoulder after taking the roses from him and guided him to a giant recliner to sit in. "Thit down, KK. I'll bee back." He said as Karkat sat down, looking smaller than usual when he tucked his feet under him. Sollux strode out of the room to his respiteblock and putting the roses in a vase. He then searched on the top of his mess of a dresser for a small box with a smaller heart-shaped box taped to it. Inside the small box was two rom-coms Karkat had never seen before and in the heart-shaped box was chocolates. Sollux had been flushed for Karkat for a long time now, basically since grubhood. After finding and grabbing the boxes, he grabbed an old picture of them when they were two sweeps old. Karkat had looked like he had just rolled out of bed and Sollux looked lanky and awkward with multiple bandages on his elbows and knees. Sollux sighed fondly at the sight of the pair holding hands.
'SOLLUX C. & KARKAT V., TWO SWEEPS' he saw on the bottom of the picture in his lusus's sorry excuse for handwriting. He walked out to the other room and sat on the arm of the chair where Karkat was sitting. "WHAT'S THAT IN YOUR HAND?" Karkat asked nonchalantly.
"It'th a picture of uth." Sollux handed the picture to Karkat, who took the picture and chuckled, a small smile tugging at his lips. "I remember this. It was that day Crabdad and Biclops took us to the park with the fountain that changes colors."
