Why can't gods just give a straight answer?

Daphne Briars was no stranger to nightmares. She had them ever since her mother died.

When she was little she used to have every time the same nightmare. That was until she found out she was a demi-god. Her dreams became scarier, darker and much more realistic.

Imagine her surprise when she found herself in a camping place. Not just any camping place but the very one she used to spend the summer's with her mother and sister.

It took her a few moments to realize that she was dreaming. Daphne wasn't in this camping place since her mother died. But gods everything felt so real.

The green grass, the small river, the forest that she was always to scared to enter unlike her sister. She could already smell the bonfire and the s'mores and her uncles famous fried potatoes. Her sister always loved them.

Daphne closed her eyes for a moment pretending that this wasn't just a dream and things didn't changed so much she barely recognized herself.

"I met your mother in this place you know."
Daphne sighed annoyed. She opened her eyes to see her dad sitting in the grass with his feet in the water.
He wasn't looking at her instead he choose to play with a tiny strand of grass.

Unlike her sister, Daphne looked exactly like her father. She had his blonde curls, his pale skin, his long fingers and her blue eyes. Percy used to say that even the glint in their eyes were the same.

At the tought of her friend her stomach felt like it was doing flips. It's been almost two days since he dissappeared. And while it wasn't such a high number, everyone had their theories as to why he disappeared and not one was a good theory.
Everyone was looking for him like mad. Annabeth,Nico, even the hunters of Artemis. Of course, no one has found a lead to the missing son of Poseidon.

It was like he disappeared in thin air, which wasn't possible but it was possible that the gods have something to do with it. The gods know Percy wasn't shy in pissing gods off.
Everyone in camp tried to ask their parent about Percy but just their luck Olympus closed.

Daphne looked at her father just standing there as if nothing was wrong, as if it was a normal thing for him to appear in her dreams, and she just grew angrier by the second.

"You have the same look as your mother when she is angry, you know? And I'm probably not making this better but we don't have much time. I'm giving you this warning, Daphne, tomorrow go at the Grand Canyon. There will be a boy with one shoe. He is your answer."

Daphne was so confused. She wanted to speak but she realized that she wasn't able to. It was like her lips were sealed. She looked for help at her father, who didn't seem to realize his daughters distress as he looked at the sky, frowning.

It was odd. Daphne never saw her father frowning. No emotion beside arrogance and happiness. It didn't suit his frown.

"She's close," said her father "don't trust her. Ever. You'll be fine. Never lose hope. You have to wake up, Daphne!"

She wanted to. She really did. But when she closed her eyes the dream only changed. Her father disappeared and so did the sun. The trees were dying, she was staying in a dirty desert and she felt an horrible dread in her stomach. She didn't feel this dread since Chronos. Then she heard the laugh.

It was like someone was scratching their nails on a board. Daphne shivered.
"I will have you. They can't protect you you wait. Sooner or later. Willingly or forced, I will have you."

Daphne woke up with the laugh still ringing in her head, breathing hard and sweating.
