Gon was ecstatic! He didn't just get to the hunter exam; he also made new friends on the way!

Mito-san always says that a friend is never a loss, and he took everything she said to heart.

He made friends with the birds, the bears, and people alike.

He was now exploring the tunnel with his excited childish eyes, looking for a new friend to make.

His friends always tend to be older or a different specie than him. But Mito-san told him that everyone in this life has something to teach.

Birds taught him to work hard through watching them build their nests, bears taught him to care about others as they protect their cubs, and people had so much more essence to teach him.

Gon thrived in learning; he took every new gesture as a kind way to make him better, he trusted blindly and acted sincerely.

It was as if Gon has no social filter that differentiated between an honest person and those who deceived; he perceived them both in the same way.

Leorio, his new claimed friend, told him that he must classify people to those who he can trust, and those who he shouldn't.

But Gon simply said "if people are treating me nice, shouldn't I treat them the same way?"

Leorio eventually gave up after few pointless tantrums about two faced people, received only by a blank expression from Gon.

On the other hand, Kurapika, his other new friend, seemed to treat Gon as a scientific case, as if Gon was a subject that he wanted to study and examine.

He had heard about the term "happy go lucky" but never saw it impersonated so before Gon, and due to his heavy past, Gon's attitude intrigued him immensely.

The exam started and Gon stretched his muscles with enthusiasm.

Leorio and Kurapika shared a knowing look and accompanied with a smile as they bathed in his livelihood.

They all started running side by side, discussing the exam and how long this might take.

Then something sped by them, and Gon lost the thread of conversation to another exhilarated rush.

A skate board!

He awed as the boy with silver hair passed them by. The thrill made him run faster till he caught up with this new interesting person.

Gon wanted to claim him as a friend and learn from him, starting by learning how to skate on that board!

The kid slowed down and Gon introduced himself with animatedly, Gon was excited because Killua would be his first ever friend, who was his same age and same specie!

Killua was thrilling, despite his bored façade, Gon discovered a lot about his new friend Killua.

And as always, the latter's background didn't faze him; Killua was nice to him was he not? Why should he care about his upbringing then?

He learned from Killua how to skate, how to leave no trail behind him, and he learned that he needed to know what he didn't want in order to know what he did want.

Killua was by far the most friend that Gon is learning from, he also knew that there were probably still more than 405 things that he could learn through being by Killua's side…
