Well, when you go
Don't ever think I'll make you try to stay

Lily gathered the few things she had brought with her and looked at Severus. She wanted him to stop her, but he said nothing. Instead he just sat on the couch reading some tome with great concentration.

So take your gloves and get out
Better get out
While you can

"Well, I'm pretty sure that's everything," she stated letting her arms to her side.

"Don't forget your gloves," he replied from behind the book.

"Oh, yeah, those," Lily mumbled to herself and crossed the room slowly to where he red gloves lay on the table by Severus.

"You best hurry up," Severus suggested lowering the book slightly so his eyes were visible. "You don't want to get caught, because I mean think of the scandal, the saintly Lily Evans caught leaving the Slytherin Dungeon." Severus' temper was rising. He wanted to scream, to shake her, to tell her she was acting like an idiot.

When you go
Would you have the guts to say
"I don't love you
Like I loved you
Yesterday"

Big tears formed in the corner of her eyes and she rushed to the door. She pulled it open roughly and turned back breathing heavily. Severus turned in the couch, his eyes fathomless but a small twinkle of sorrow trying to fight its way to the surface before engulfed again by the pit. "I love you, Lily," he choked on invisible tears.

"I don't love you," she said hoarsely before slamming the door behind her, "like I loved you yesterday," she mumbled to herself when she found herself alone in the corridor.

Severus threw his book down, he hadn't read a single word of it. "She's the one who started this," he hissed to himself. "And now…and now she wants to end it. 'Severus, I think that maybe we should just stop for a while.'" He kicked the table nearest him and a sharp pain shot from his toes through his foot.

Sometimes I cry so hard from pleading
So sick and tired of all the needless beating

Severus curled himself back into the couch, he laid his forehead on his knees and began crying. One day she saved him from some stupid prank played by Sirius and James. For reasons beyond his comprehension he started crying and she held him. Even after all the stupid Mudblood comments and other snide remarks she sat there with him.

She ushered him into an empty classroom. "I'm so tired of it all," he sobbed. She lifted his chin so that he could look into her eyes. Neither of them expected what was to happen next, not then, not now, but it happened. He didn't see her as a Mudblood, just Lily Evans, the only person who hadn't gotten some sort of sick joy out of beating him senseless. The kissed only lasted a couple seconds, but it was like a fire was lit inside of him.

No use crying over it now, you heard her "I don't love you." And frankly if I were her I wouldn't love me either, I do nothing worthy of love, Severus thought to himself, wiping his eyes on the back of his sleeve.

He got up but noticed that Lily had left one of her gloves. He swooped down and picked it up, he closed his fist tightly around it, letting the tears spill freely from his eyes.

A/N: This is my first fanfic in a looooong time, so please don't be too brutal, but constructive criticism means a lot.

Disclaimer: I own neither the lyrics nor the characters, but it sure is fun messing around with their lives.
