AN: First ever Guide related fic, for the 101 Kisses LJ community, challenge #2 four of diamonds. FordxArthur, though I'm not terribly proud of it.
Disclaimer: Not mine and I'd be willing to bet Douglas Adams is rolling over in his grave because of this.
Arthur simply could not believe Ford had never played Go Fish. He also couldn't believe anyone could be so utterly terrible at it. Alas, Ford Prefect, with his ever ready Hitchhiker's Guide, his willingness to spout long forgotten tidbits about even longer forgotten planets, and his all around spacey cool attitude, was a hopeless case when it came to an earth child's card game. Why, oh why, had Trillian pulled out that deck of cards?
"I have a four of diamonds. Can I do anything with a four of diamonds?"
Arthur rolled his eyes, "No, Ford, it's not your turn."
"Oh," the other man looked a bit sheepish, "Well, go on then."
"Do you have any fours?"
Arthur sighed as Ford searched for a moment, before finally handing over his precious four of diamonds, cheeky grin plastered on his face. "Not very good at this, am I?"
"About as talented as a Vogon Poet."
Ford scoffed, "I'm hurt, Arthur. But if you really feel that way, shall we play a game from my planet, instead?"
The robed man stared at Ford in distrust. While his games never started out very harmful, they had the odd tendency to result in the embarassment or headache of anyone around.
Pointedly ignoring the looks he was receiving, he continued, "It's called 'Turn off all the lights and see what happens to Arthur Dent'"
"And I suppose there were a surplus of us Arthur Dents on Betelgeuse."
"Of course."
He barely had time to register the maniac grin on Ford's face and the fact that he was no longer sitting across from him at the table, but more or less in front of him and on the table, before the words "Lights, turn off," were muttered and the room went dark.
Arthur vaguely wondered if Trillian would notice the chapped lips and bruised neck in the morning, but as he currently had his best friend crawling onto his lap, the thoughts didn't last long. After all, Ford was a very good kisser and was fully intent on winning the game.
