Author's Note: This tale came to me in a drug-induced inspiration while I was playing Mortal Kombat: Armageddon one day... What would the Baldur's Gate universe be like with a similar scenario? And thus... Baldur's Gate: Reckoning was born! The basic plot is taken from Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, and I don't own that. Nor do I own Baldur's Gate. But if I did, everyone else would be saying something like "I don't own Baldur's Gate. Bifflechips does. He is super awesome."

And no, it wasn't really drug induced. Drugs are bad!

Without further ado... I present... Baldur's Gate: Reckoning!

1378... The Year of The Lost Keep

There have been many powerful warriors throughout the Realms: Spellchucking archmages, weapon mastering fighters, blessed healers, adaptive rogues, the list goes on... The power of such characters has always been kept in check by the Gods themselves. Occasionally, however, such heroes and villains would get too powerful to handle, and a challenge was raised by the Gods every several hundred years to halt this unbalanced power struggle that could risk destroying the Realms. This challenge was called the Reckoning.

The heroes and villains of might and magic are all told of a location in which the challenge was offered, and to whoever can land the killing blow on the guardian, will be granted the power of a deity.

This year's challenge, however, is unique in that all those that have been told of this challenge all have some connection with the child of Bhaal that ceased the resurrection of the Lord of Murder. Every last one of them. In the past, few challengers have known any of the others. Many that died in their association with the Bhaalspawn have been returned to life to take part in this event, though not necessarily in the form that they would prefer.

On the first day of Mirtul, a citadel will rise up out of the ground in the middle of the Tethyrian desert, housing the powerful, unknown guardian at the top. The guardian's main purpose from the Gods was to not be defeated, but to kill as many of these powerful fighters as it can and keep such power at bay.

Many of those have formed with one of two major alliances. Either evil or good, though a few have chosen to fight independently from others.

For many, this will be their last battle. Only a few will prove worthy enough to survive the carnage.
