Author's Note- Imagine Drabble # 19! This one gets a little darker. I hope you still like it.
Disclaimer: I don't own Supernatural or the imagine that I'm using. Just how I interpreted it and my character Haven.
Brave Hunter
Hunts were never actually "good" in the traditional sense. But they usually went okay. Not this one. It had involved kids and that always made it harder on Haven. Kids had been disappearing left and right. Haven, the Winchesters, and Castiel had all worked overtime to try and find the kids. When they finally did, they were met with a pile of tiny corpses. The ride back to the bunker was grim and silent. As soon as they were through the door, Haven dashed to her room. She curled up in the center of her bed and sobbed. Images of the small, broken, bloodied bodies flashed behind her eyelids, causing her to sob harder.
"Haven?" came Castiel's concerned voice. She only sobbed as the angel entered the room. She felt the mattress sink as he sat beside her. "We did our best." Haven sat up and stared at him.
"Clearly, out best wasn't good enough!" she cried. "All those parents have to bury their kids. And they don't even get to have an explanation as to why. They just have to sit and ask why it had to be their kids. No closure at all!" Her sobbing intensified. The angel sat, unsure of what to do, before pulling the hunter into his arms.
"Shhh," he said quietly. He cradled her head against his chest and ran his fingers through her hair. "You worked very hard to find those children."
"Why couldn't we save them, Cas?" Haven sobbed.
"I cannot answer that. But I do know that you should not feel guilty. You saved many more children. You are a hero," Castiel told her.
"I don't feel like a hero."
"But you are. Now you should rest," he replied. He laid down and pulled Haven down beside him. She buried her face against his chest as he wrapped his arms around her.
"Thank you, Castiel," she whispered.
"You're welcome. Now sleep, my brave hunter."
