Candy Cane

Ted had given her a candy cane for Christmas and for some reason it made Andromeda cry. As the tears began to stream down her face she gripped the candy cane tighter and tighter as if by letting go she would die.

"Dromeda what's wrong?" Ted's kind words only made more tears stream down her face it was only when Ted drew Andromeda into a tight embrace that she stopped crying.

Andromeda wiped just below her eyes where her tears had left dried lines of water, "it's just this is so nice." Ted chuckled a little and let go of her.

"Dromeda a candy cane isn't a great present you don't need to pretend to like it it's just I didn't have the money to buy anything else." Although that statement only wanted to make Andromeda cry more she held back her tears and spoke.

"Ted wizards and witches don't normally get candy canes in fact until recently I didn't even know what they were. When you gave me this," Andromeda paused and wiped a tear that was falling down her cheek yet again. "It reminded me of my family and how they'll never forgive me." Ted hugged her again his big masculine arms straining so much that it was hard for Dromeda to breathe.

"Honey you don't have to run away with me I don't want to see you unhappy and clearly you are going to be if you have to leave your family behind." Andromeda nodded and she heard a train whistle blowing in the distance.

"Ted we have to go we're going to miss the train." They broke away from each other and Andromeda slid the candy cane in her pocket so she wouldn't loose it. As they made their way back to the main platform of the train station students began to board the train; they had made it just in time. Andromeda boarded the train and found a seat with her sister Narcissa and her boyfriend Lucius.

"Ready to go home Andy" Narcissa said as Andromeda collapsed on the seat. Andromeda just nodded and looked out the window where Ted was getting on the train. This was the start of their two week separation and Andromeda didn't like it one bit. The train lurched forward and she leaned up against the window putting her hands in her pockets. That's when she felt the candy cane and pulled it out of her pocket. The white candy laced with red swirls gave her comfort; it was strange that a piece of muggle candy could make her feel this way, but she would have Ted with her while she visited her family's home for the last time.
