Hermione and Fred…

Chapter one: Fred

There I was on a stone floor, head pounding and so very, very alone. My head hurt too much to lift so I stayed and stared at the ruble around me. I could make out vague figures beneath cloaks and blankets and I could hear the distant screams of people outside. I tried hard to think of why I was here, what happened, and why, but my head was pounding and the growing pain in my leg was becoming more and more unbearable.

There was a noise. Footsteps. I instinctively squeezed my eyes shut but the footsteps got closer. They slowly came to a stop by my head and I could feel the shadow of the stranger growing bigger as they knelt over me. "Fred? I know you alive." The familiar voice of Luna Lovegood echoed through the cracked stone walls. I felt my eyes flutter open and meet her oval face. Luna was quite a pretty girl with a pale complexion and opal eyes, but she was often scrutinized for her strong and eccentric beliefs. She reached a hand to help me sit as she sat down herself on her ripped and charred robe.

"What happened? I thought I died. I mean I am dead. What..." I trailed off in confusion. Luna simply smiled and pointed towards the cloak I was wearing.

"Something of your own designs, no doubt. When George was grieving amongst the crowds I overheard him saying something about how there were projects you never finished like a cloak that rebounded weak and simple charms. He also mentioned that you were wearing it as a trial, and a joke, tonight. I thought nothing more of it until Harry was explaining to us how he knew about the horcruxs and how Snape was actually amongst the bravest and loyalist wizards ever. That is when It hit me, if he was amongst the great wizards he would not have intended harm upon you but among a death eater therefore the charm would not strike you as fatal. Simple." Luna smiled and tried to help me stand.

I hobbled to my feet and reached out to find support in a nearby rock.

"For someone who is supposed to be mental your brilliant" I grinned but flinching at the pain in my eyebrow. She put my arm around her petite shoulders and helped me slowly to the charred remains of what used to be a door. I looked out to the destroyed courtyard and crowds of people. It really was beautiful, strangers embracing each other and slytherins and gryffindors brushing differences aside and rejoicing in the glee of the moment.

That's when I saw her, sitting with him across the other side of the court yard. She really was captivatingly beautiful. And way too young. And my brothers girlfriend. I distracted my thoughts by focusing on the one person that really mattered to me. "GEORGE!" I yelled seeing his ginger head bobbing in the crowd.

I could never describe that moment to its full potential. Reunited. It took a long moment before one of us spoke.

George looked confused

"How…?"

"You don't actually think someone could kill me, do you?" I grinned.

He ran to embrace me as the rest of the Weasleys came to see the commotion. Yells of joy surrounded me as Luna explained what had happened. A voice behind me broke me away from my twin, "Fred… You're alive?" Hermione yelled, running towards me and throwing her arms around my shoulders. I awkwardly wrapped my arms around her shaking shoulders, very aware that everyone was watching, including her boyfriend who is also my brother.

A few hours later we all had gathered in the burrow around the fire with mugs of coco, mourning the deaths and celebrating the victories. Hermione and Luna sat in the kitchen helping Mum with food. She was laughing, unaware of my glares.

"Fred, shall we share the news?" said George, jumping from his seat. Without waiting for a response "Weasleys wizard wheezes has now got another branch up in Wales! We're moving to Wales!" A broad grin swept across his face.
