Try To Remember . . . .

Try To Remember . . . .

[A/N:  Here we go.  This is another poem from Rachel's POV, ~Meridian grins as all the readers gasp in surprise~, but it's more about how she tries to remember how her life was before she began fighting.  I know I've been doin' a lot of Rachel poetry lately, but it's mainly because I'm doing another monologue from Rachel's POV for my Character Sketches series, and I keep thinking of great poems from her POV.]

Try to remember the way it used to be,
Try to remember how it was. . . .
Try to remember what it was before,
Try to remember how it was . . . .

What was my life like before I changed?
How did I use to live?
Who was I, before I began to lie,
What was the truth to me?

Try to remember the way it was,
Try to recall yourself,
Try to remember how it used to be,
Try to see how it was . . . .

Who would I have been,
If I'd never made those choices,
Got started down a path of Death,
Who would I be, today?

Who would I have been,
If I'd never learned to kill,
Learned to rejoice in the icy white pain,
Who would I be, today?

Try to remember the way it used to be,
Try to remember who you were,
Try to remember what came before,
Try to remember what you loved . . . .

Losing my feelings, losing my life,
Changing to cold, hard steel,
Learning to hide, what I feel inside,
Forgetting what I used to know.

Try to remember what you used to do,
Try to remember the words you once sang,
Try to remember who your friends once were,
Try to remember who you were.

Turning, and fighting,
Running, and losing,
Twisting and winning,
Losing who you are inside.

Trying to remember,
Who I used to be,
A shred of my former soul.

Trying to remember,
What I once was,
Snuffed out on the wings of war.

Trying to remember,
Who I used to be,
Yet forgetting, still,
Gone from my memory,
Gone from me,
Gone with the shrieks of pain,
Leaving me here, quietly here,
Forgetting who I am . . . .
