CHAPTER 1
Fade in on Lucy in a wedding dress, holding a bunch of flowers. She is checking herself in a mirror in the hallway. She begin to think to herself...
"I suppose I thought it would never happen. I'd be a simple girl living a simple life. Men were something that just got in the way. Yet...that's exactly what I have...and I couldn't be happier...and who would've thought it all started not so long ago..."

Camera pans over to and focuses in on the entryway. The door slams open and Lucy runs through the halls, trying to find the Mystery Room. She eventually finds it and throws the door open.
"Hey, Prof! Sorry I'm late. I accidentally missed my bus this morning."
"Honestly, Lucy!" Alfendi fired back. "Does this job mean anything to you?!"
"Oh, I see we will have to deal with 'Potty Prof' today," Lucy responded.
"'Deal with'? Am I nothing but a child to you?" Alfendi angrily asked.
"I am not having this argument with you again, Prof."
"Ugh fine," Alfendi scoffs. "We have casework anyway."
"Oh? What's on the agenda?"
"If you'd give me time to speak," Alfendi angrily bursts, "I'd tell you! Honestly you're worse then your father."
Lucy had heard enough. She slapped Alfendi across his face. However, as his face stay turned away from her, she regretted her decision and feared what Alfendi would do.
"...Prof..." Lucy softly prods, "...I'm...I'm so sorry...I wasn't thinking..."
Alfendi turns to her slowly, cupping his cheek.
"No, Lucy, it's quite alright," Alfendi meekly responds. "It's all my fault, and I am so sorry for what I've said...I suppose we better get to work then.."
Lucy felt terrible, but he had it coming.
"Yes, Prof...what can I do?" Lucy asked, quickly jumping back to her normal demeanor.
"This case is very-" Alfendi is interrupted by his phone ringing. He picks up the receiver. "Hello...oh hello, father...I suppose I could if you'd like...fine, I'll stop by after the case...Good day to you, too." He hangs up the phone. "That was Dad."
"Oh! Prof Senior?" Lucy affectionately called him. "What is he up to these days?"
"I have no clue, but we do need to stop by soon." A knock is heard at the office door. "Ahh! There my suspects are!"

"And who would've guessed the butler did it all along!" Lucy said energetically.
"Yes, quite," Alfendi responded, as he walked down the block. The Layton house was not too far from where he and Lucy worked.
Eventually, they arrive at the Layton residence. Lucy gawks at the intricate brickwork, the beautiful windowsills, and the ornate main doorway.
"Lucy..." Alfendi motions. Lucy snaps out of her rubbernecking trance and joins him in front of the door. He picks up the doorknocker and hits the large wooden slab. The door swings open. A tall shadow with a large head looks back at them.
"Alfendi, dear! Come on in! I swear, knocking like some sort of visitor. Lucy! How good to see you!"
Instantly, Alfendi and Lucy recognize the dark shadow as his mother, Emmy Layton.
"Hello, Mrs. Prof!" Lucy grinned, stepping in the doorway.
"You know, you can call me Emmy, dear." his mother reminded with a smile.
"Oh, no need to be formal, Mrs. Prof," Lucy replied.
Emmy was confused by the response, but didn't think too much about it.
"Where's father?" asked Alfendi, looking about.
"In his study, dear. Go join him. He's expecting you." As Alfendi walks up the steps to the upper floor of the house, Emmy walks back to the living room, leaving Lucy alone in the doorway.
"...uhm...I'll just wait here then..?" Lucy asked timidly. When she hears no response, she sits on a wooden box of mittens. "...ok...good...good..."
