Title: The Bridge(Missing Scene)
Rating: T
No connections to the show. I'm just a fan.
This is a 'what if' type of fic. I wasn't too thrilled that Coulson chose not to knock on the door. Its why I decided to write this alternate version of that scene starting as soon as he sees Skye go to her room crying.
Coulson looked angry at first, but not with Skye. He felt incredibly bad for her. He understood just how much it meant to her finding out what she could about her parents as well as her own backstory from when she was a baby. He sighed as he watched her go to her room and rip up the copied folders she had accumulated during her search.
He climbed down the stairs as he watched her close her door and then heard her crying. He approached her door and softly knocked. "Skye?" He softly said. "Skye, its me. Can I come in?"
Skye sniffled and tried to force away her tears. "Uh…sure." She said. She was not succeeding in forcing back her tears. "I already know. May told me you guys aren't going to help me anymore, so you wasted your trip here."
"Skye, May can do what she wants, but I am keeping my promise to you." Coulson said. "I'm going to help you find out what happened to your parents."
She looked up at him and said, "Really?" She shot him a hopeful look.
He smiled and nodded. "Yes."
He was caught by surprise when she hugged him spontaneously. After a split second, he hugged her back. In his heart he knew this was the right thing to do. She meant too much to him to just let her stay disappointed. He also mentally planned to yell at May for being so cruel to her. He sighed as he held her close. He was not going to let May get away with doing this to the girl who has become like a daughter to him. She meant too damn much to him.
After several more minutes, he heard her sniffle and felt her give him one more squeeze before releasing him. He placed a hand on her shoulder and softly asked, "You okay?"
She nodded and shot him a grateful smile. "Thanks."
Coulson smiled back at her. He knew she would be all right.
