Spend all your time waiting for that second chance
[Van sits in a room looking out at the night sky]
For the break that will make it OK
[The view pans up to see the mystic moon]
There's always some reason to feel not good enough
[Hitomi sits in her room silently looking at the night sky]
And it's hard at the end of the day
[Looking over, Hitomi picks up the picture of her, Amano sempai, and her friend]
I need some distraction or a beautiful release
[Looking at the picture Hitomi's eyes fill with tears]
Memories seep from my veins
[Absently she moves her tarot deck to the corner of the desk]
Let me be empty and weightless and maybe
[A single card falls out, L'amour]
I'll find some peace tonight
[The card sits, still upturned, on the desk as Hitomi falls asleep]
So tired of the straight line, and everywhere you turn
[The view slowly pans up from the sleeping Hitomi to look again at the moon]
There's vultures and thieves at your back
[Van sits in his throne room half listening to officials bicker]
The storm keeps on twisting, you keep on building the lies
[Sighing quietly, Van stands up and goes for a walk. The rest of the court breathes a sigh of relief at his exit]
That make up for all that you lack
[Looking out of a window, Van spots the dormant Escaflowne, now just a reminder of the past]
It don't make no difference, escape one last time
[Van considers running away, even if only for a few days]
It's easier to believe
[But he laughs as he realizes it's useless, no matter how far he ran he'd never escape his destiny]
In this sweet madness, oh this glorious sadness
[Merle can be seen hidden in the background, watching Van with obvious concern]
That brings me to my knees
[Sitting down with a huff, Van sits and looks longingly out the window at the mystic moon]
In the arms of the Angel far away from here
[In Hitomi's dreams she is reunited with Van]
From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you feel
[Alighting on her window sill, Van reaches his hand out to Hitomi]
You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie
[His winged figure silhouetted by the moon, Van looks ethereal to Hitomi]
You're in the arms of the Angel; may you find some comfort here
[Wrapped securely in his arms, Hitomi closes hers eyes]
In the arms of the Angel; may you find some comfort here
[Hitomi jerks awake, the vividness of the dream for a second leading her to believe it was real]
