„Not everything dies..." With exactly these words Marita had tried to maintain gent Mulders hopes at that time. Now exactly these words were what she desperately tried to hold herself on, after the be said agent had transmitted the news of Alex Kryceks death.
Still minutes later, after her conversation already finished and only the usual dialing tone of the telephone line was to be heard, Marita sat in her New Yorker apartment like dazed. The receiver furthermore helplessly clasping. Her left hand slowly freed itself of her lips and revealed the look at a half open mouth. Her face looked unemotional and pale, nevertheless, her eyes betrayed the chaos which the phone call had left in her.

Everything for which she and Alex had fought for together during the past three years suddenly seemed inexpressibly foreign and surrealistic. She had always known that he often acted rash and overheated. However, she had always hoped that Alex did not become too unadvised. They both had already lost too much, as that they could have afforded other losses.
Marita struggled after air when she saw Alex' picture. His eyes, which in the few, really private moments - which were granted to them – were so gentle as they could be calculating and co other calculating and cold in. Pursing her lips she closed her own. Her grip loosened itself from the cold plastic of the receiver who fell noisy to ground.
Nevertheless, her senses noticed nothing of it.

Instead, her palms slid down to her, from white blouse covered, belly.
