Kikuta Hirari was feeling nervous for the nth time that day. She had left the town since a couple of hours and was walking on a very tiny path in a big forest, heading towards the mansion she hopefully would have worked in.
'Why did they have to build a mansion in the middle of a dark forest like this one?' she wondered, looking up at the sky and watching the few stars that appeared after sunset. She sighed and resumed to walk.
After another hour, she finally saw a dark and huge mansion ahead. "Finally." she said, increasing her pace.
Soon she arrived at the gate, a bit surprised to find it open. She carefully entered, hoping that they wouldn't mistake her for a robber or similar, and headed to the main doors. Once there, she took a deep breath to calm down. She needed that job, and hoped she would quickly receive it; she wasn't worried of the amount of work, she was pretty much a workaholic. She raised a hand and hesitated a split-second before knocking hard, wondering why there was no doorbell.
At the same time, inside the mansion, the owner was sitting on one of his luxurious couches in the living room, sipping some wine and feeling bored.
"Ahn~ These days have been quiet." he said, stirring the wine a bit. He then smirked hearing someone knock at the door. "It's always pleasurable when someone arrives on their own." He placed the glass on the table near the couch and stood up, going to the door and opening it himself as he currently had no servants, finding himself in front of a girl.
Hirari bowed at him. "Ano, I've heard you need a maid?" she asked.
The man that had opened the door looked at her from head to toe and smirked slightly, leaning to the door. "That's right. So you came to apply, ahn~?"
She nodded and quickly told him about all the experience she already had, telling him how she had worked in the previous mansion.
He looked at her for a bit after she finished talking, with a gaze that seemed to pierce through her soul. She shuddered lightly at the unpleasant feeling, but decided to ignore it.
"Alright." he said, and moved inside. "You can start at once, the mansion is pretty dusty."
She smiled lightly, relieved, and thanked him, then entered as well. He closed the door. "The polishing things are over there." he said, pointing to a room. "And Ore-sama will provide you decent clothes tomorrow." he added, looking at her, barely hiding his disgust for her plain trousers and T-Shirt.
She raised an eyebrow. 'Ore-sama?' she thought, scoffing inside her mind, but she knew better than commenting; she simply nodded and started to get to work.
She didn't know that from the moment she had stepped inside the mansion, her life would have radically changed.
