The great Sherlock Holmes, John thought to himself as he sat in the living room staring at the mess that had been left in the kitchen.
"One would think you'd be used to it by now, John," Sherlock said as he passed him and into the kitchen. "The mess always gets cleaned anyway and we both know it."
"Yeah, Sherlock! The mess gets cleaned because I pick it up!" John half shouted as he followed.
Sherlock paused and stood as still as a statue, and John nearly ran into him. "You're right, John," Sherlock murmured and shook his head absentmindedly.
John was slightly baffled. "I-I'm right?"
"Yes, John, you're right. My god, how many times must I say it?" The annoyance had slipped back into Sherlock's tone as quickly as it had left. "If you'd prefer, I shall clean it afterwards."
"All right then," John said hesitantly. He knew something else was afoot here and that Sherlock would more likely than not end up with the upper hand on John yet again.
*later on that evening*
John had walked in, prepared to put the groceries on the floor due to various experiments that had to be on the table and counter tops, to find the kitchen clean. He turned to find Sherlock laying face upward on the couch. "Thank you for cleaning up, Sherlock," John said gratefully. Sherlock nodded silently as John put the groceries away. "I'm going to go wash and then get dinner if you actually want to eat tonight." Sherlock nodded again and waved John away.
John walked to his bedroom, feeling quite happy considering he wasn't the one who had to clean up the mess Sherlock had made. He opened the door, to find piles of miscellaneous things on his bed. At a closer look, John found it was Sherlock's experiment from the kitchen. Sherlock glided past and leaned in the doorway.
"I had to put them somewhere, John, and the garbage simply wouldn't do," he said with a hint of the slightest smile on his face. "But quickly, let's go get dinner, so we can get back sooner." With that, Sherlock left the room.
John tried to keep his temper under control and grabbed his coat to follow Sherlock when it hit him. "You had to put THEM somewhere, Sherlock?!"
this just came to me and I thought it'd be funny to write, and I'll write some more one shots along the way, but to be honest, this will only be updated when an idea comes to me or when someone gives me a prompt. 3
