"Isabelle, wake up!" I could hear my mom shouting to me from the kitchen Monday morning, as in the morning back from winter break. This year's winter break was probably the most boring and confusing yet. Boring because my best friends were all on vacation with their families someplace interesting, so I had absolutely nothing to do over break; confusing because my "friend" Ashley Barnum had given me a gift for Christmas. She gave it to me the morning before break, when she was on her way to Colorado to go skiing with her family. I was debating whether or not I should have opened it, so I decided to open it the morning before school that is what got me to wake up this morning. "ISABELLE LEE IF YOU DON'T GET OUT OF BED YOU ARE GROUNDED!" "I'm awake, mom!" I replied as I got out of bed. "I'll be down in five minutes, will you be quiet?!" That got her to be quiet. As I got dressed for school, I kept watching the little silver box with gold ribbon, just wondering what Ashley could have gotten me. I couldn't take it anymore; I ran to my dresser and grabbed the gift. I took a deep breath, and held it in as I opened the little box up. Inside was only a note. I didn't understand, why did she write me a note? I opened the paper and it read,
"Isabelle,
I wanted to thank you for being my only friend. I know you think I'm crazy because I sit at the center table, and I know how you think I have all these friends and the perfect life and all that good stuff. I'm not being conceited, I know everybody thinks I'm perfect. I just wish people could see me for me, not my looks and my "perfectness", by the way I'm not perfect and never will be perfect. Nobody's perfect and I just wish people could realize that.
