(A/N: It somehow doesn't feel right to cross something so amazing like the Book Thief with something like Twilight, but I was inspired and I've been wanting to try the crossover thing, so I wrote this. You don't really have to have read the Book Thief to understand this; you just have to know that the Book Thief was narrated by Death, and so is this story. I'm not totally sure if I got Death's personality right, because I don't have my copy of the Book Thief, but I did the best I could. I also wasn't sure if Death could see the soul's memories, but if he (She? It? Do we know?) couldn't…you'll just have to pretend he (she, it, whatever)could. End of super long author's note.)
Soul
The sky was black with her memories as I carried her soul across the sky.
***A summary of the death of Leah Clearwater***
She jumped off the cliff because no one cared.
She jumped because she felt that she didn't have anything to live for anymore.
Her soul had practically leapt into my arms when I arrived. She welcomed me, told me that she had been waiting for me for too long.
Her story was not a happy one. Most of the ones I see aren't. When you're being carried by Death, most people won't think of happy rainbows and unicorns.
But her story was not at all pleasant.
Her memories were of her father, of all the people who left her, of the constant change from human to wolf and back again, and something called imprinting that she kept describing as "evil."
Her memories were of loss.
She did not enjoy her life.
***A small observation***
Leah Clearwater didn't want to die.
She just felt like she didn't have any other choice.
(A/N: Reviews are love.)
