Hello, Wonderful Turtles! This is my first time writing a Harry Potter fanfiction, but HP is one of my favorite fandoms, so I had to. Luna is one of my favorite characters, and I've always thought about how lonely she must have been before she met Harry and the gang in book 5. I hope you enjoy!

When Luna entered the room, she felt a wave of disappointment hit her. The Grey Lady had lied. She'd said that the room would give you what you needed, but it didn't. The Grey Lady had told a bittersweet tale of a day when she'd felt crowded by hateful people and had gone into the room. Inside was a cozy place to sit, and a small wooden table holding up a mug of cocoa. The perfect comfort for an introvert who'd been pushed around too much.

Luna had hoped that the room would tell her where to find someone to talk to. Maybe a map, with magic ink that would lead her to a friend. Perhaps another person in the room. At the very least, some advice on talking to people.

Instead, she found nothing. The room took its original form; dark, cold, and made of mirrors. Looking down, she saw other Lunas looking back up at her, but no one else. For a moment, she hoped that the map she wished for was lying on the ground somewhere, but a quick search proved otherwise. She was alone, and was to be so forever, if the room was correct.

Luna leaned against one of the mirror-walls and slid into a sitting position, clutching her knees to her chest. She didn't want to leave the room, but every minute she looked around was another moment of despair etched into her mind. She shut her eyes, blocking the sight.

She didn't cry, though. It was rare for Luna to cry; she'd only done so a few times in her life. Emotions went beyond tears for her. She just sat there, holding herself together. The room didn't have to be right. Magic, like anything else, had flaws and made mistakes. Still, she didn't know.

Luna wished she knew. While she liked mystery and the hard-to-believe, she also needed to know why such things happened. The room didn't offer an answer.

Why had the Grey Lady lied to her? Luna remembered her words exactly. The Room of Requirement is a special place. It will protect you if you need protecting, help you if you need helping. Luna needed help, but the room had done nothing except make things worse, break her spirit.

So she stayed there, not having the heart to leave, watching the reflected Lunas stare back at her. After all, according to the room, they were her only friends.

(What Luna didn't realize was that the room knew when and where Luna would meet the people she'd fight with and bond with. If it told her, she'd approach them too soon, while they were so caught up in their own problems with the Triwizard Tournament that they'd ignore her and she'd lose her one chance at friendship. For now, Luna would be alone. Was it worth it, however, if she'd make the truest, longest lasting friends she ever could just a mere 4 months later?)
