Chapter 1:
It was 8:00am and Zoe woke up to the doorbell ringing. "That's strange" thought Zoe as she went to the monitor controlling a camera outside the door. There was a guy standing there with a package. Zoe walked to the door calmly before simply stating 'I didn't order a package' The guy left but put down the package at the front door, Once the guy was in his car and long gone, Zoe crept out the door slowly and opened the package. It contained an electrical object. Zoe pondered on calling Frank but decided to take a closer look.
Big Mistake.
As soon as she touched the metal contraption it let off a beep and a mist sprayed out the top.
Zoe POV
As the mist made contact with my skin I felt a burning sensation, I ran into my house closing the door and made an emergency call on my communicator.
"Frank! Frank help me please. I opened a package left at my front door and, it sprayed a mist that is now burning my skin."
I collapsed on the floor in pain as I heard the sound of a motorbike outside my house. Dan rode a motorbike, and It couldn't be KORPS because from where I was sitting on the floor I could see the colour red on the bike. But how did Dan know I needed help, I was sure I had only sent it to Frank.
I heard Dan stating his name to the voice recognition device on my door and then he pulled the door open and ran in. The place where the mist had made contact with my skin had turned a purple colour and was bleeding. "He-Help!" I managed to croak out before I was slowly pulled into darkness.
Dan POV
As I heard the message come through my communicator I quickly scribbled a note for my mum and ran out the door. I sped down the road as quickly as I could on my motorbike to Zoe's house then I ran to the door, Damn the stupid recognition thingies "Daniel Morgan" I said as calmly as I could. The door opened and I ran in! "ZOE! ZOE WHERE ARE YOU!" I ran around the house until I found her in the hallway slumped against a wall. She tried to say the word help before she eventually passed out. I called an MI9 ambulance straight away. It was all I could do.
No POV
Tom, Aneisha, Dan and Frank were waiting at the hospital for the results of the mist from Zoe's skin to come back. Aneisha was beyond worried and Dan looked like he was about to cry. Tom had tried to comfort Dan but anybody who came near Dan was snapped at. You might as well be trying to talk to an angry crocodile.
Suddenly a doctor came out of Zoe's room. Everybody's faces lifted until the doctor spoke.
"Zoe is in a coma, she… she might not get through the night, and even if she does, she may be in a coma for three more weeks after that. The mist, it was a poison."
Aneisha POV
Zoe might die. Zoe might die. Zoe might die. These words won't leave me alone, the real intensity of the situation has just hit me. My friend might not even get to see the light of day again. I could feel my breathing get faster and faster and I wanted to stop myself but I couldn't and then I just sat back in my chair and cried. I had NEVER cried in front of the team before, Tom looked just as scared and worried as me whereas Dan… Nobody knew. Of course he was devastated but, he just stared into space. Glassy eyed. Eventually Frank took us home. The car ride was silent and the only sound that could be heard was my sobbing.
THE NEXT DAY
As I walked into the hospital the next day I was allowed to go into Zoe's room. As I walked in the nurse started bustling around. The heart rate monitor was speeding up. Zoe was waking up! Dan walked in slowly behind me and a smile lit up his face. Tom, Dan and I ran up to her bed. Her eyes fluttered open.
But when she spoke it wasn't her voice.
It was deeper. Darker. It was the voice of the mastermind.
