A/N This is my first song fic so I apologize for a mistakes in advance. It's based of of Vanessa Carlton's song Twilight off her Be Not Nobody album. Hope you enjoy.

Kagome sat at her desk trying to study for her latest test. Trying was easy; actually doing so was the hard part. Her mind kept wondering back to her times in the feudal era. The time she first met Inuyasha; when she was mistaken for Kikyo.

I was stained, with a role, in a day not my own

How she had changed. How he had changed.

But as you walked into my life you showed what needed to be shown

Death. Betrayal. Vengeance.

And I always knew, what was right I just didn't know that I might
Peel away and choose to see with such a different sight

Love. Love? She knew she had feelings for him but, love?

And I will never see the sky the same way and
I will learn to say good-bye to yesterday and I
Will never cease to fly if held down and
I will always reach too high cause I've seen, cause I've seen, twilight

Inuyasha sat there staring at the fire. Tomorrow he would go and get her but for now it took everything not to think about her. He fingered the rosary around his neck as one thought came to his mind. He was different. Not as selfish or aggressive as he once was.

Never cared never wanted never sought to see what flaunted
So on purpose so in my face couldn't see beyond my own place

Now he was the person that protected her, that indulged her, that was falling for her.

And it was so easy not to behold what I could hold
But you taught me I could change whatever came within these shallow days

And I will never see the sky the same way and
I will learn to say good-bye to yesterday and I
Will never cease to fly if held down and
I will always reach too high cause I've seen, cause I've seen

It was getting dark and she was nowhere near done. Kagome sighed in exasperation and turned form her book to look out the window.

As the sun shines through it pushes away and pushes ahead

"It's not like he would return my feelings anyway."

It fills the warmth of blue and leaves a chill instead and

'You don't know that' came her inner voice. 'He has feelings for you; he just needs to sort them out.'
"No." She shook her head, trying to convince herself.
'It's true. What he had for Kikyo wasn't love, it was infatuation. With you it's different.'

I didn't know that I could be so blind to all that is so real
But as illusion dies I see there is so much to be revealed

And I will never see the sky the same way and
I will learn to say good-bye to yesterday and I
Will never cease to fly if held down and
I will always reach too high cause I've seen, cause I've seen, twilight

She got up from the chair and threw herself onto her bed. Lying on her back, she stared at the ceiling, trying to clear her head. Again her thoughts strayed back to the feudal era.

I was stained, by a role, in a day not my own
But as you walked into my life you showed what needed to be shown

He gazed at the fire for a while longer, eyelids sagging. He closed his eyes and let the memories of Kagome overtake his mind.

And I always knew, what was right I just didn't know that I might
Peel away and choose to see with such a different sight

They both fall asleep thinking of the other. Unknowing that they felt the same way.

And I will never see the sky the same way and
I will learn to say good-bye to yesterday and I
Will never cease to fly if held down and
I will always reach too high cause I've seen, cause I've seen, twilight
