A few minutes after Rupert Giles left the Chairman's office there was a knock on the door.

"Enter!" The Chairman called. The door opened to reveal a middle-aged Englishman with mousy brown hair just begining to turn grey. "I'm sorry to interrupt Chairman, but is it true?"

"Is what true, Mr. Travers?" The Chairman asked tiredly. He gestured for the other man to sit down.

"That John Merrick left his Slayer to Rupert Giles of all people! It's utterly insane!" Travers replied.

"I take it then, that you object to the Council's decision to support John Merrick's Will?" The Chairman inquired. The other man nodded. "I believe that Rupert Giles is a loose cannon and in all likihood will get his Slayer and himself killed."

"And your theory is based on what exactly?" The Chairman wondered. Travers bristled at his superor's tone, and said: "Why because of what happened to that boy Randall. Besides I have seniority over Mr. Giles the slayer should be in my charge not some ex-black magic user."

At that point the Chairman held up his hand. "This Council has lost one of its finest men and I believe we all should respect his wishes as they were stated in his Will." Travers began to speak but the Chairman cut him off.

"Mr. Travers as Head of The Council of Watchers I have noted your objections as to the posting of Rupert Giles as Buffy Summers new Watcher. However I believe that a man's actions should not haunt him for the rest of his life."

"But Chairman.." Travers protested.

"No Mr. Travers, as Chairman of this Council I have decided that John Merrick's Will will not be challenged. Now is there nothing else?"

"No sir. Nothing."

"Time to be on your way, then."

Travers nodded and turned to leave but, as he reached for the door, he asked: "Chairman will I ever serve a Slayer?"

"The Chairman was quiet for a moment then he said, "Be patient Mr. Travers all good things come to those who wait."

The End.
