Sighing, Goemon got up to answer the door.
'I wonder who that is,' he thought to himself.
He had been moving around for two years and knew nobody.
"Dare desu ka?"
"Open up," a rough voice demanded.
"J-Jigen," Goemon gasped.
He stood wondering if he should open the door or run away, again.
"Ano otoko..."
He turned the knob hesitantly and swallowed hard, leaving the chain lock.
And there Jigen stood in the bland white hallway, the same way he always was.
Wearing the same suit, the same hat sitting on his head, the same cigarette dangling from his mouth.
But he was panting for breath, his face wrinkled with anger and his fists clenched white.
Goemon watched him, trembling slightly. "I..."
He pushed the door on impulse, jumping back as Jigen forced his way in.
'The chain lock, when did he...'
Getting down on his hands and knees, he bowed his head low, not knowing what else to do.
"Moushiwake arimasen," he said, voice cracking in fear of why his old friend was here.
"Don't give me that crap!" Jigen yelled, stomping towards him.
The samurai looked up at him weakly. "Doushite koko ni iru, Jigen-kun?"
"That's a dumb question." Jigen kneeled beside him, giving up the intimidating glare. "Why did you leave?"
Goemon tried to ignore the tears stinging at his eyes. He knew he could never say why, and that's why he kept running.
The gunman's questioning eyes pierced through him sharper than any katana ever could.
"How did you find me? Is... Lupin here too?"
"Dammit Goemon, that isn't that I asked!"
He grabbed Goemon's chin, making the still shaking samurai look him in the eye. "Is he?" he repeated.
The man in the fedora sighed. "When you left, I left too... I haven't spoken to Lupin since."
"Demo, naze?" his voice became soft and breathy, obviously on the verge of tears.
"Because," Jigen leaned closer, cupping Goemon's cheek gently, "I only stayed for you."
Goemon felt his face flush, the gunman's hot breath only inches away. It reeked of tobacco, but Goemon never thought it smelled so sweet.
The guilt was overwhelming him, he gave in and let out a sob, crystalline tears freely falling from copper colored orbs.
"Gomennasai, Jigen-kun, hontou ni gomennasai."
Jigen pressed his lips against Goemon's soft, kawaii pink ones, sliding his fingers across his wet cheeks to dry them.
The samurai deepened the kiss and threw his arms around Jigen, small chokes coming with more tears of the years he had wasted.
Jigen ran his fingers through the ebony locks he adored, gazing into Goemon's eyes.
"I'm sorry too. I should have said something."
"Have you been searching for me all this time for me?"
He nodded slowly, never taking his eyes away.
"Baka," Goemon whispered lovingly, leaning in for another kiss.
It was just an idea I had. Sorry it's so short!
Lupin: Hey, where was I? (gets out gun)
Kiko: Ah, Gomennasai! (ducks behind couch)
Lupin: Get back here!
Kiko: I'll put you in there next time! I promise! (runs off)
