AN: So, I just started writing this the other day, and it came out nice, so I thought I would post it to see what you guys think. This is just a preview of the story until I figure out how it will go over, so it is really short, and I apologize for that. I haven't decided whether or not I will continue this story, but if I get enough reviews and favs, I will definitely keep it going. So if you like it, don't forget to review :)

Endless Darkness Preview

Glistening flakes of snow fell gently across the valley, painting a white landscape broken only by the brown and grey trunks of the trees and the clear stream that quietly whispered to frozen forest. A gentle breeze wafted across the rolling hills of the valley, bringing with it the smell of burning wood. The clean, crisp scent of the snow was cut by the warm, metallic scent that would remain engrained in the mind forever.

As the smoke cleared temporarily from a section of the valley, splotches of red could be seen littering the serene landscape, bringing bright color to the pale world. The warm scent of blood and the sweet smell of decay pervaded the land, watering the frozen plants with the red liquid that gives life to all; and takes life away. Man, woman, and child alike lay desecrated across the small valley as a small town burned to the ground. The thick clouds of smoke billowed into the air, mixing with the dark clouds already above.

At the center of the carnage sat a small boy with orange hair. He sat, tears welling in his amber eyes, looking down at four corpses among the many. His tears spilled to the ground, melting small holes in the blanket of snow. The small boy reached out a hand, touching one of the bodies, his palm staining red with blood. Tears streamed down his face in torrents as he wiped his hand against his ragged tunic, putting a red hand shaped streak down the dark material.

As the boy sat mourning, a young girl came up beside him, crouching down beside him and looking at the bodies. The boy turned to look at her through his tear hampered vision. She had silky, raven hair and violet eyes that seemed to swirl like twin pools of water. Saying nothing, she simply sat next to the boy as he cried, offering only the comfort of human presence.

As the snow began to fall harder, the only move the children made was the boy's shaking sobs that racked his entire body. And as the sun fell behind the mountains, the flames of the burning town cast dancing shadows across the children and the corpses. Although the light danced and played across the valley like deer in the forests, never once did the shadow leave the boy's face. Never once did the light play across the boy's torso. Never once did the light reach the boy's dark silhouette on the snow. The boy was shrouded in darkness; a never ceasing, never wavering, endless darkness.

AN: Now I know its short, but it was just a preview, so please don't think that all the chaps will be that way. Please let me know what you think and if you think I should keep the story going. Thanks everybody.
