Shikamaru sighed as Kiba dragged him through the doors of the Cracker Barrel, the Inuzuka talking excitedly at how much fun meeting everyone would be.

That was true. They hadn't seen their friends in so long, what with all of them going to different colleges and having their own lives. Shikamaru and Kiba, officially a couple after Kiba nearly attacked the Nara two years ago, just happened to be going to the same college.

Kiba wanted to be a veterinarian, and Shikamaru…well, he didn't really care. His mother had wanted him to become a doctor, but he decided to follow Kiba and be a vet. Made sense, because his family was so good with animals – mostly deer – and his dad was good with that kind of stuff. Plus it was better to be with a friend instead of making entirely new friends.

Kiba led Shikamaru to the table with their friends, the Inuzuka smiling as Naruto bounced up from his seat and embraced the two.

"Hey, guys!" the blonde said. "How have you two been?"

"Great!" Kiba chirped happily. "I passed my exam!"

Sakura snorted next to Ino, and Kiba glared at her. "What?" he said. "You got a problem, pinky?"

"Oh, no, not all," Sakura said, faking innocence. "Nothing at all."

Kiba scowled at her suspiciously, but his smile reappeared. The brunette tugged Shikamaru down into a chair and Shikamaru sighed again.

He tuned out his friends as they caught up with each other, idly tracing patterns on the table. When the waitress came and took their order, Kiba ordered for the Nara when Shikamaru never looked up. A glass of water was placed in front of him, and he sipped it slowly.

He blinked when a tan hand shoved something under his arm. He looked up.

"Shikamaru, can you do this?" Naruto asked. Shikamaru glanced down at his hand.

"What is it?"

"It's a game. You have to get all the tees of the board except for one," Naruto answered. "So? Can you?'

Shikamaru let out a breath and studied the triangle-shaped piece of wood. Then he moved the tees swiftly, until the board was completely empty of the little plastic pieces.

Naruto gaped at him. "How the hell did you do that?"

Kiba stared at the board, then the tees. "Is that even possible?"

Sakura glanced over from her conversation with Sasuke about a book, frowning at them. "What?"

"Shikamaru emptied the board. How is that possible?" Naruto said, passing a hand through his hair. "It shouldn't be possible!"

The waitress came back with their food, and Shikamaru replaced the tees on the board. He graciously accepted the salad Kiba had ordered for him.

Naruto was still staring at the little pieces of plastic, trying to piece together what had happened in his mind. Shikamaru smirked.

Kiba poked his side. "Shika, how did you do that?"

Shikamaru shrugged. "I'm me. That's what I do. I live to confuse you people."

Kiba just frowned and speared a piece of chicken with his fork. "I don't think that's possible," he muttered. Shikamaru rolled his eyes.

The rest of their lunch was spent trying to figure out how Shikamaru had removed all the pieces.

A/N: I was at Cracker Barrel with my mom, sister, and grandma, and you know the little game things they have there. Well, I was playing with one and talking to my sister. She came up with this idea, and I finally wrote it. It is definitely one of the shortest things I've written, but who cares? I sure as heck don't. I just wanna get to 100! But I like reviews…
