Chapter 1
It starts with the breathing. Then the whispers that get louder and louder until they become screams. Tears shed, houses destroyed, hearts beating so fast they can't stop, then in the blink of an eye it is over, and I wake up drenched in sweat.
"The dreams are back?" said Hannah, her gold eyes full of concern, and a serious case of bed head.
"Yeah, how can you tell?" I replied, knowing perfectly well that I was going to get an answer the teachers wouldn't like, probably something I wouldn't like either.
" Alice, you started shooting hexes and curses at the painting on the wall. I had to run to the common room to avoid having my head taken off, although I am not actually sure how you got your wand in your hand." She replied.
I dared to look at the wall. The frame was askew and you could not even see what used to be a country scene that everyone had enjoyed until now. I had hunch that I would be paying double detention for that, unless I could fix it.
"Allegro Fixated." I bellowed. The painting disassembled in a cloud of ash. Hannah gave me a look,
Even Hufflepuffs get detention sometimes.
I walked down to the common room. Felicia, a first year, greeted us in her peppy way as Mayhem, the large yellow bird in the common room, squawked in her cage.
"Oh, shut up!" I said to the bird. I was in a bad mood because I had to mop the floors of the trophy room every day for two weeks.
Felicia looked hurt.
I brushed pass her and went to get breakfast. Hannah hurried behind me, sending an apologetic look to Felicia.
We never made it there.
