Hey, my favorite readers. I am glad to be back and as I promised, I hope it is with a bang. As some of you know, I began rewriting this story since many readers have pointed out the obvious mistakes, I made which ruined my fic. I realized, there was more to a story than the plot and hence, made the necessary changes. There are a few things I have to say.

1. Yes, this is a 'journey fic,' but with many other components too. I really advise you read the first 3 chapters and then decide if you want to continue or not.

2. I've limited Ash's Pokemon Roster. (He used his previously caught Pokemon in both Jhoto and Hoenn leagues) Read to find out what all Pokemon I've eliminated.

3. This fic is a semi-crossover with many other elements outside Pokémon world. Don't worry, I haven't ruined Pokémon for you since every external element has been modified to fit the Poke world. I hope you like what I did.

4. Ash is not OP. Trust me, you will find out by the 10th chapter.

5. This story I planned is a long one. Ash will travel to other regions after Kalos.

With that done, please read on. I hope you like it.

Darkness, Despair, and Death. That was what Ash Ketchum saw as he sluggishly opened his eyes. The vibrant world he knew of, existed no more. The ever-luminous sun was now replaced by a sombre orb slaying every drop of desire he had ever known. The buoyant realm he previously journeyed in, was now perpetually mute. His friends, his family, and his adored Pokémon, all victims of the disseminating menace.

He stood there, devoid of any motion. He raised his head up, peeked around, and saw the once lively land, now covered in carmine corpses and carcasses emanating a loathsome odor. He nauseated. Life was nowhere visible. The former gentle breeze was now scorching rugged heat, tearing his facial scars. Scars he received from the incessant scuffles he had been in. He struggled to breathe in the ever-diffusing fumes. Fumes which originated as a result of the consecutive battles waged. His fingers twitched, pupils dilated, and his chest flamed. He shuddered in helplessness. He sensed fear like never before. Fear of being left alone. Fear of his incapacity to save the ones he loved. Fear of the approaching peril engulfing every last breath in sight. His knees weak, arms heavy and head empty.

[Thud] He collapsed.

"You have failed, Oh Chosen One," mocked a vicious voice, shattering every ounce of his hope.

"Huh," Ash gasped as he shot up from his bed in a quick motion. Sweat dripping all over his face. His thick raven hair moist in perspiration. His bloodshot eyes pulsated between amber brown and azure blue for a second. It was the strangest dream he had ever had. Yet, it felt so real.

Was it the future that he saw? Or was it just an absurd dream? Who was that Chosen One? There was no telling.

He chucked his thoughts aside for now and glanced around, examining his surroundings. He sighed in relief, realizing he was home. He had been, for a few weeks now. Following his historic victory at the Kanto Battle Frontier, his mother, Delia Ketchum, advised him to take a break from his never-ending travels, and for once, stay at home. That was what he was doing.

He briskly flicked his window curtains, letting in the divine rays of the sun enter into his room. He slowly pushed his duvet aside and got down his bed. His bare soles touched the cold floor sending shivers up his spine. He then quickly made his way near the door and slipped on his flip-flops, which he usually left there on his mom's order.

He turned back, stretched his arms, and yawned, killing his leftover sleep in a single breath. He looked around searching for his lifetime partner and his best friend, the yellow mouse, Pikachu who seemed to be nowhere near. "Must have gone down for breakfast," he guessed, thinking to himself. His groggy eyes fell on an old photograph hanging in the corner of his room. He smiled weakly looking at the image of his deceased dad, Red Ketchum.

Eight years ago, an explosion had been reported from an unknown location in the Sinnoh Region, devouring the lives of many. That was the day, Ash had lost his dear father. It was that very distasteful day which changed his life for good. He stopped socializing with anyone and everyone. He held himself back from making any new friends or interacting with the few he had. He embraced solitude. If not for that one summer camp years ago, he probably would have been the same reclusive individual, even now.

[Glurp] His stomach rumbled as he felt a mild tornado whirl within it. He placed his palm on his belly and chuckled to himself, "Guess, I am hungry too." He unlocked the door and began sauntering downstairs. Hopefully, his mom had already finished preparing breakfast.

As Ash walked into the living room, he saw Pikachu sitting on the dining table and nibbling on a large rice ball with a ridiculous amount of ketchup on top of it. He sighed. He wished Pikachu maintained a healthier diet and limited his ketchup intake but, that was highly unlikely.

"Morning Ash," Pikachu said, raising his tiny paw, coated in red condiment, up.

"Morning buddy," Ash replied with a smile as he walked towards his partner.

Since childhood, Ash was strangely able to understand Pokémon speech. Nobody could elucidate on how he gained such a bizarre ability since it was almost unheard of. A few times, he was called to a couple of laboratories to undergo some tests since, such an ability, if recreated could do wonders in helping Pokémon, but none succeeded. Not until a few months ago, could he justify his unique skill. He always thought that it was a gift from the god of the land, Arceus. It was only after he visited the Rota Kingdom located in his home region, Kanto, was the million-dollar question deciphered. It was where, he teamed up with Sir Aaron's Lucario, the Aura Pokémon, to bring back his yellow buddy who was kidnapped by Mew, the DNA Pokémon. On their way, Lucario explained to him about his ability to control aura, enabling him to comprehend Pokémon. Later that day, Ash assisted Lucario in transferring aura to Mew. He somehow managed to summon a small orb of aura using Sir Aaron's gloves in order to save the DNA Pokémon which in turn resulted in the sustenance of The Tree of Beginning. Unfortunately, that very incident depleted Lucario's aura, consuming his life for good. It was still a fresh and a sour memory in the raven-haired trainer's head. A memory which he would never forget.

Ever since that incident, Ash had been trying to recreate what he did at the Tree of Beginning, to summon aura. Lucario had told him that he would be able to do so at will, once he attained a certain age, and trained by an aura guardian or a Pokémon capable of using aura, which was restricted to the Lucario evolution line. Lucario had reasoned that, due to aura being the essence of life, his body had to evolve first and then adapt to the energy drain which came with its use. However, Ash being Ash, the overenthusiastic and overzealous kid, could not care less. He kept trying, almost every day during their journeys, usually secretive, concealing it even from his friends. His partner, Pikachu was the only one who knew about his relentless endeavors. But alas, every time he tried to focus, he failed, unable to create even a single grain of aura. He even tried using Queen Ilene's gift to him, Sir Aaron's gloves, which allowed him to create aura in the first place but, he failed again. He never lost heart though, determined on learning the ways of aura, he decided to keep trying until successful. Maybe, one day he would accomplish his goal.

Right now, Ash took a seat at the table as he dragged a chair out. He eyed at the delicious breakfast before him and was about to reach the pile of rice balls made by his mother. But before he could even make a move, he was met with a slap on his wrist by his mother who came out of nowhere. "Fresh up, Ash," she glared and motioned her index finger towards the bathroom.

Ash thought that his mother was busy in the kitchen and hence tried sneaking in some food before she noticed but, he did not expect his mom to spot him so effortlessly. He grinned at her sheepishly, "Okay," and walked towards the common bathroom to freshen up.

A little while and two full plates of breakfast later, Ash was relaxing on the couch watching TV. Pikachu was beside him engrossed in the battle playing on the screen. They were watching the re-telecast of The Kanto Premier A also known as KPA, one of the premier tournaments of the Kanto Region.

The Premier Tournaments were where the elite trainers of higher classes competed against each other. This was where trainers made most of their income as they represented various companies under sponsorship, who leaked funds on them. Besides, the Pokémon Regional League, limited for lower class trainers, being held only once a year meant that these tournaments were the only alternatives for avid battle fanatics.

Currently, the raven-haired trainer and his yellow partner were watching the Kanto Elite Four, Agatha destroy another trainer, Duke, with her Gengar. Agatha was four Pokémon down while Duke was trying to survive with his sixth and last Pokémon. The result was quite apparent, it was just a matter of time.

[Ring, Ring]

"Wonder who that must be," Ash thought to himself as he heard the telephone ring. Usually, most of the calls were for his mom since he generally was on road, traveling. He barely touched the home phone but right now, Delia and Mr. Mime were out shopping for today's dinner. This meant Ash had to bail before the match completes, this sucked. "I'll be back buddy," he said to his partner and went on to answer the videophone.

Ash paced towards the phone, picked up the receiver, and saw an image pop up on the screen. It was a honey blonde girl with a radiant and lively beam, Serena Yvonne, his childhood friend who now lived in the Kalos Region. The very same girl who got him out of his disastrous melancholy after his dad's demise. The girl whom he considered to be his most important friend. He instantly grinned. He hadn't talked to her in a really long time now, owing to his extensive travels while Serena was still studying at the Kalos Academy.

"Hey Ash," Serena greeted cheerfully.

"Hello Serena," Ash replied, resonating the same expression.

He had met Serena almost six years ago in a certain summer camp organized by the Kanto's Regional Professor, Samuel Oak. Serena's mother, Grace, was a Rhyhorn Racer. Due to an Inter-Regional Racing Competition held at the Kanto Region, then, Grace had to leave her daughter here for a while. She naturally found the summer camp organized by Professor Oak to be both resourceful and safe and hence, left her there.

Initially, when Ash found Serena, he noticed that she was a very shy girl, reluctant to make any friends, and distanced herself from everyone, fairly similar to him at that time. However, after a minor incident involving a Poliwag, a handkerchief, and a scrape to the knee, Serena quickly gelled up to Ash. Both were almost inseparable for the later duration of the camp. Their friendship they developed had gotten so robust that Serena ended up staying at Ash's house until Grace returned to take her back. Needless to say, both friends were quite disappointed at Serena's return. Unable to forget the association they nurtured, they managed to keep in touch for a long time, aided by the modern technology.

Since Ash refused to attend school and wanted to begin his journey soon while Serena being the opposite, wanting to attend an educational institution before her journey, they both lost contact for a while, only being able to talk occasionally. But Ash compensated their prolonged separation by promising to her that he'd take her on her journey once she graduated school and was ready to begin with her adventure.

Finishing up with the small talk, Ash asked, "So, why did you call Serena?"

"I am graduating in a week, Ash," the blonde-haired girl replied in glee. "You know what that means, right?" she asked with a wink.

"Of course, how could I forget? I promised to take you on a journey, right?"

"Yes," Serena nodded giddily with a faint blush emerging on her cheeks, which Ash always thought to be her generic face pigment.

Ash noticed the excitement Serena displayed and chuckled to himself. He had a vivid idea of how she felt since he too was in her shoes, about four years ago when he turned ten. Your first journey is the most memorable and exciting one. "I'll talk to mom and let you know of my arrival," he said.

"Alright Ash, I'll wait," Serena smiled, "Bye Ash."

"Bye Serena," Ash cut the call.

He walked back into the living room reminiscing the little memories with Serena, he stored in his head. He was chuckling to himself thinking of the silly moments they spent. As he entered into the front room, he noticed the view before him and was horrified at what he saw.

Pikachu had failed in his trial of opening a ketchup bottle. There was red sauce spilled everywhere on the floor and the yellow mouse was greedily and hastily licking the dabs of the spillage as he wiggled his thunderbolt-shaped tail, sideways in glee. "Pikachu," he yelled in anger. Normally he wouldn't be so enraged with his Pokémon but, he knows that he had to answer his mom about this and that was always a bad situation to be in, knowing how much his mother valued cleanliness.

"Catch me," Pikachu squealed and leaped over his head heading out.

Ash sighed. He cannot catch his mouse easily and he learned that the hard way a long time ago. He exhaled with a sigh and did what he had to do. He began cleaning the mess his partner created.

Ash and Pikachu were now on their way to Professor Oak's Research Lab and Ranch. That was where his Pokémon, out of his on-road rooster, stayed while he was on his journey. Since the call from Kalos, he had informed his mother on his new travel plan. She was delighted, saying she had been waiting for Ash to make this move. Ash could not grasp the hidden undertone of his mother's words and just shrugged, and told her that he had been waiting for it too. He and his partner were now going to visit his Pokémon at the ranch to inform them on their next venture. He had a distinct notion about his Pokémon's feelings, they have been frustrated lately and rightfully so. Weeks of idle dilly-dally sucked their spirits out. They missed the adrenalin of an adventure and Ash delaying on his next, only irked them even further. Hopefully, this new announcement would lift their dead vims up.

"Come on buddy," Ash cried as he walked towards the ranch. He could see the tall structure of the lab ahead of him, maybe a few feet hundred away, maybe more but who counts. "We are getting closer to the ranch."

Pikachu gazed at his trainer and grinned evilly. "Race you to the ranch," he cried, jumping off Ash's shoulder, and bulleting ahead with a quick attack. The outcome of these abrupt races was usually the same, resulting in Ash losing.

"Attacks were never allowed," Ash hollered but in vain, Pikachu was too quick, in fact, the fastest Pokémon in his family, leaving his Pidgeot of course. His mighty bird could clock at Mach 2 speeds leaving most Pokémon far behind on any given day. He kicked his pace and darted ahead. He had no intention of losing to Pikachu, although he was quite sure Pikachu must have already reached the destination but his competitive spirit won't let him give up. He accelerated and sprinted forward, soon reaching the entrance to Oak's Lab where Pikachu was waiting for him outside the gate.

"I won again," Pikachu smirked as Ash approached him. He folded his tiny hands behind his back as he tried to whistle in carelessness. He pretended to look as nonchalant as possible.

"Only because you cheat fuzzball," Ash pouted in fake annoyance, jerking his face away from the yellow mouse. Pikachu never plays fair. He would get him one day. Just not today.

"Yeah, yeah... Potato Potaato, same thing," retorted the yellow mouse as he continued with his insouciant mien. He glanced at his trainer with a small smirk and saw him sigh in disapproval. Maybe, he overdid it a little.

"Now come on, let's go in," Ash said, ignoring his partner's shenanigans. He stepped forward and opened the fence gate which led to Oak's laboratory. He had come here to meet his Pokémon but before that, he needed to have a quick word with the revered professor.

Professor Oak sat in his lab before an old computer. He was going through the various reports and research papers filled by junior Pokémon researchers. Sitting beside him, on the floor, was a purple blob-like Pokémon, Muk, who actually belonged to Ash, but preferred to stay with the old professor rather than partaking in battles owing to his jolly nature. Battles weren't his cup of tea, although he did win Ash an important victory in the Kanto league preliminaries but that was it. He hardly ever participated in any, thereafter.

A few years ago, the professor took up a new job of mentoring novice Pokémon researchers with good potential and steering them towards becoming reputed professors such as himself. Among the myriad of prospects, his grandson, Gary Oak, was the most promising of the lot, having already published various articles and reports in numerous fields. In fact, the aged professor was currently going through the latest mega evolution research filled by his grandson. Boy was he proud of him. The findings were quite astounding and could create a new wave of revolution in mega evolution research if researched further. He was reviewing the final findings, editing out the redundant parts.

[Knock, Knock]

The professor heard someone at the door. He looked at the clock beside him and realized that it was evening. He never had many visitors to the lab during this time of the day since most of his appointments were limited to mornings. That was how he had his calendar scheduled.

"Can you get the door Daisy?" he asked his granddaughter who was also his personal assistant. She was working on a personal project of her own on the other corner of the lab. Daisy was Gary's elder sister who too was an aspiring researcher, but unlike her younger brother who preferred more of field work, she opted to study the Pokémon at the ranch, in turn assisting her grandfather.

"Sure Grandpa," Daisy replied and paced towards the door. She walked through the several files cluttered on either side of the room which confined any and every space left to move around. She almost stomped on a few files as she stepped ahead. "Coming," she cried. She then unlocked the door and opened it just to witness her younger brother's first rival involved in a heated debate with his oldest partner, Pikachu.

"I am here, you know," Daisy grumbled with a deadpan look. She saw that both Ash and Pikachu were completely unaware of her presence and were continuing with their ongoing argument. Ever since Ash had met Pikachu and chose him as his Pokémon, under unforeseen circumstances and him being late, she never knew of a day when these both to quit fighting. They resembled more of hostile rivals than friendly allies, at least according to her.

"Sorry," Ash grinned sheepishly as he scratched the back of his head. "We were just talking," he tried to explain.

"Whatever," Daisy sighed as she pulled the door further towards her, making way for the both of them to enter.

"Who is that Daisy," the professor's voice echoed through the narrow entrance of the lab. He had an idea of it to be Ash, given the faint voices of argument he had heard from afar but, just wanted to confirm it.

"It's Ash, grandpa," Daisy replied turning her head towards the professor as Ash and Pikachu walked inside. She then followed behind the two visitors and took her seat back at her table, leaving the trainer and his Pokémon to go ahead and greet her grandfather.

"Ash, my boy," the professor said with a smile as he got up to wish the incoming trainer, but not before he saw Muk slither across the floor and envelop the raven-haired trainer in an adored yet monstrous hug. "uh," he sweatdropped. He should have seen this coming.

A while later, Ash explained to the professor the reason for his visit. The boy had finally decided on his next journey. Kalos Region, yes, that was were Ash was headed to next. He should say he wasn't surprised behind the reasoning given by the raven-haired trainer. He knew Ash and Serena were quite close friends since childhood and given that Serena was to begin her journey in a week's time, it was quite natural that Ash went there to help her out. The professor later promised to give Ash all the details of the region soon and left the boy to meet his Pokémon. Right now, the professor had other tasks to finish. He sat down on his chair and got back to his mundane work of reviewing the research papers filled. "Phew," he sighed as he continued to examine the documents. There were many left to be inspected.

"You forgot to tell him that Gary returned, grandpa," Daisy commented thoughtfully gaining the attention of the busy professor.

"Oh…guess he'll just have to find out then."

Ash was now wandering around in the ranch hoping to find his Pokémon among hundred others who were relaxing there. Trainers usually left their Pokémon here while on their journey. It was also a place for the wild Pokémon who come to live and breed here in peace evading the general threats in the forests, like the fear of a trainer capturing them or those fights with fellow Pokémon over resources. Ash looked around and saw the various Pokémon playing or resting in the ranch but he could not find who he was looking for. "Where is he?" he asked himself. He was currently searching for his brave and loyal leader, Bulbasaur.

"Think you can track him, buddy?" Ash asked bending down to his partner's level and scratching him behind his ear which he knew was his favorite spot. It was sort of a friendly bribe he gives to Pikachu whenever he was in need of a favor. Not that he does not give them enough already but, the more the better, according to his yellow partner's opinion, which he usually used to his advantage at times. "He should be somewhere nearby."

"Ah... that felt good," Pikachu cooed in delighted on being touched on his favorite spot. He would now move a mountain if Ash asks let alone tracking the plant dinosaur. "Yeah, I'll track him down. Now follow me," Pikachu said trying to sound in charge of the task to track Bulbasaur's scent.

A few minutes later, the raven-haired trainer reached a small pond as he followed Pikachu's directions. Upon reaching there, he saw a Weepinbell and a Poliwhirl involved in a heated debate. It was an uncommon scene since most Pokémon prefer to fight over their differences rather than to talk it out, that was how Pokémon lived. Looking a bit closer Ash saw that his Bulbasaur was expediting the talks, trying to sort out the altercation between the two Pokémon, the brave peacekeeper he was. "Hey, Bulbasaur," both Ash and Pikachu yelled, trying to get the plant dinosaur's attention.

Bulbasaur peeked towards the voices calling out to him. He saw his trainer, Ash standing a few feet away. He immediately darted towards him and began nuzzling his head against his trainer's leg in affection. "Glad to see you again, Ash," he said.

In spite of Ash staying at home and his regular visits to the ranch, he could not spend much time with all his Pokémon and Bulbasaur being the peacekeeper, meant that he spent even less time with the Seed Pokémon, given his duties here. He bent down and pet Bulbasaur's head and chuckled, "It's good to see you too. How is the peacekeeping going on?" he asked.

"It's going really good," Bulbasaur replied enjoying the attention he gained from his master, "I was just solving a small fight between a Weepinbell and a Poliwhirl."

"Yes, Pikachu and I saw that. You were amazing Bulbasaur," Ash praised his seed Pokémon as he continued petting his head. He was really proud to have such a brave and friendly 'mon in his team.

"I see that you are back Ashy Boy," a cocky sounding voice screeched, interrupting Ash's moment with his Pokémon. He recognized this tone very vividly. He turned back, looked towards the source of the voice, and saw his childhood friend Gary approaching towards him holding a journal in his hand and his faithful Umbreon walking to his side.

"Gary!" Ash exclaimed standing up to greet him. Both teenagers then enveloped each other in a brotherly hug as their Pokémon greeted among themselves.

Ever since Gary's father, Blue Oak, had passed away in the same blast his dad was involved in, Gary had a complete change in his attitude. Gary had become more taunting than before, probably to receive the attention that he lost from his father since his mother had passed away when he was just two years old. In short, Gary ended up being a bully, especially picking on Ash for some unknown reason. They both began their journey as Pokémon Trainers together, competing in every way they could. How would earn badges quicker? Who would go farther at the league? More importantly, who was stronger? It wasn't until Ash's Johto journey, where they finally settled their differences after an iconic battle between them at the quarterfinals. Following that loss, Gary had an epiphany and decided his love for Pokémon lied in researching about them than battling with them. He began following his grandfather's footsteps and turned into a Pokémon Researcher. Probably the only researcher with an exceptional battle record behind. It had been years since Ash saw his frenemy. Gary, being the avid researcher, was always on fieldwork and failed to stay home. He could say that being a Pokémon Researcher demanded as much time and energy as being a Pokémon Trainer would, or maybe even more.

"Good seeing you Ash," Gary said as he took a step back. He clearly displayed his reluctance to getting touchy, even if it was his oldest friend. "So... I heard you beat Brandon, tell me that's a lie."

"Huh," Ash smirked, knowing finally had one up on his rival, "You are looking at the youngest trainer to conquer the Battle Frontier," he boasted pointing his index finger towards himself. Although he was never one to brag about any of his achievements, he always considered Gary to be an exception to that rule. Maybe all those years of Frenemy Competition between them is showing its faded colors.

"Says the guy who lost to me every time we battled," Gary retorted, shoveling his right palm into his trouser pocket. The trademark style he had adopted all those years ago to look cool.

"Hey, I beat you in Johto quarterfinals," Ash countered as he clenched his fist in denial. He hated how Gary sometimes spoke to him. Even after resolving their conflicts years ago, Gary had not changed a bit. He hoped Gary would show him some regard but that was doubtful.

"Yeah, that was your lucky day," Gary remarked, knowing exactly how to get on Ash's nerves. The boy just cannot accept defeat, "In fact, that was your luckiest day ever."

"Yeah right... whatever Gary," Ash sighed. He knew this conversation would end up nowhere if he tried to keep up with Gary. His ex-rival would disparage him regardless. He should have seen it coming.

"It's not whatever Ashy Boy, you know I'm better than you and its high time you accept that fact," Gary mocked with confidence, he looked straight into Ash's eyes trying to startle him.

A few moments later, both the childhood friends burst out laughing at their childish antics. They have known each other for years now and almost nothing had changed. Despite their settled disagreements, their quarrels and taunts never ceased to exit. Not that either of them would want it anyway around, it was all fun and games.

"But in all seriousness Ash, you do deserve what you achieved. Congrats," and just when Ash was about to say something Gary interrupted, "Don't expect me to respect you. This is the best you'll get from me."

"Whoa, you're humble," Ash remarked in surprise that Gary could congratulate and belittle him, both at the same time, albeit that was how Gary was and he couldn't complain much. His friend's sarcasm was out of bounds, even for him. "But thanks Gary, it does mean a lot coming from you." He thanked. He was about to continue but realized something. "Wait, the professor never told me that you arrived," he noted.

"It must have slipped from Gramps's mind," Gary replied with a shrug, "So, how come you are here?"

"Came to meet my Pokémon," Ash replied as he looked down towards his Seed Pokémon, indicating the reason for his presence, "I am going on a new journey," he grinned.

"Oh, that is good to hear. So, are you going to ask Bulbasaur to do the honors?" On hearing Gary's question, Bulbasaur turned towards Ash seeking for his approval to which he nodded in agreement and said, "Go ahead, do it," knowing what's to come.

Taking the cue from his master, Bulbasaur leaped forward and began drawing the solar energy, charging his overgrown bulb on his back. The sunlight swiftly entered into his bulb through the hollow notch on top of it. Once completely charged, he turned his focus into converging all that built up energy into shooting a solar beam in air, a technique he used to gather all of Ash's Pokémon.

"Bubla Bulbaaasaauurrrr," Bulbasaur screeched launching a tricolored beam in the air calling for all of Ash's Kanto, Johto and Hoenn teams to gather in one place.

"No matter how many times I see, it never gets old," Gary awed staring at the beautiful visual created by Ash's Pokémon. He had never heard or seen any Bulbasaur or any of its evolution line do what Ash's Bulbasaur is capable. It was a Pokémon marvel of a sort.

"That's Bulbasaur for you, unique in his own way," Ash said with pride evident in his voice.

Soon a rampage of Pokémon began heading towards them, led by Ash's beloved Pokémon, Bayleef, followed by Glalie, Tauros and the rest. Before Ash could even react, Bayleef welcomed him with her headbutt followed by her enthusiastic nuzzling. Glalie and Tauros followed charge with an ice beam and a tackle attack on Ash respectively. A Pokémon had to show it affection one-way or the other, right? The rest of the gang gradually showed up greeting their trainer in their own unique way. A leaf blade from Sceptile, water gun from Totodile and Squirtle, and a few other attacks from the others, directed towards him, which finally ended with a bone-crushing hug from his sleeping giant, Snorlax. Even Pikachu joined in on the fun by throwing in a thunderbolt towards Ash and electrocuting him, something that he already anticipated, if he knew his Pokémon.

"Ahhh…" Ash croaked in pain, earning a chuckle from Gary. It was a surprise that he wasn't already dead with all those attacks aimed at him, and he had been enduring them for years now. Moments later, he collected himself. "It's really good seeing you guys again," he exclaimed in elation which resulted in loud cheers and cries from his Pokémon reflecting their mutual feeling. He then looked around and realized something, "Wait a minute. Where is Charizard?" he asked quizzically to no one in particular. He was sure Charizard had finished his training in Charcific Valley, months ago and was now living at the ranch.

Just before anyone could reply, a flamethrower came in Ash's direction, aimed at his face charring it temporarily. "There...you...are," Ash stuttered as he fell down on the ground, again. He should have expected that the fire dragon was waiting for his turn to show his affection.

"What's up Big Red?" Pikachu asked, raising his right paw in the air, addressing one of his oldest and closest partners in crime, Charizard.

Some Pokémon felt that Pikachu was just asking for trouble, since calling Charizard by names whether he liked it or not, was just not a good idea. Messing with the fire dragon was something everyone tried to avoid. Well at least for them, but Pikachu never bothered much, he knows Charizard was cool with him calling that, so no worries.

"I'm good yellow, how about you," Charizard replied as he landed next to Ash. He received a 'V' sign in reply from Pikachu.

A while later, Ash and Gary were standing next to each other surrounded by the entire team of Ash's Pokémon who were all waiting to be addressed by their trainer. Other Pokémon in the vicinity had already fled away. The Herd formed by the fearful looking Pokémon scared them away. All of Ash's Pokémon were now standing based on how tall they are starting with the smaller ones in front.

Firstly, was his Bulbasaur, the Seed Pokémon. He was Ash's brave leader and the ranch's peacekeeper. Despite his small appearance, he was the pseudo-leader of the whole team earning respect even from the larger Pokémon. His primary job in the team was to keep everybody in check and design training routines for the newer members of the team. His experience during his stay with Melanie at the Hidden Village was what which made him take up that role.

Next were the notorious trio, Squirtle, Glalie and the dancing Totodile who had formed a brotherly bond due to their mutual love for playing pranks.

Squirtle, the Tiny Turtle Pokémon. He was Ash's only Pokémon to have a job. He worked as a Fire Fighter at a town near Vermillion City. He quit his job last year ever since his other firefighting comrades gained enough experience. Squirtle decided that it was time he focused on training and helping Ash in Pokémon leagues.

Glalie, the Face Pokémon. He was probably the most mischievous of the lot. Usually seen plotting pranks along with Squirtle and Totodile, Glalie could be very protective of Ash if need be. With a vast variety of battle techniques and unique style, Glalie is indeed a vital addition to the team.

As for Totodile, The Big Jaw Pokémon, well, he loved to dance.

Among the larger Pokémon stood in line, first was his beloved and stubborn Bayleef, the Leaf Pokémon, who had a huge crush on her trainer while she was still a Chikorita. With time came maturity, helping her to get over her silly feelings towards Ash and focusing on embracing what she already had with him. She was probably the most affectionate of the group. Her stubborn attitude aided her battling style, making her a force to reckon with.

Sitting right next to Bayleef was his Quilava, the Volcano Pokémon, who had a whole personality transformation upon evolving. She changed from being a lazy and pampered Cyndaquil into a stoic and serious Quilava who was ruthless in a battle. The Battle Frontier journey was quite fruitful for her where she evolved and had her major personality switch. One should think twice before messing with her.

Occupying the spot behind Bulbasaur was Heracross, the Single Horn Pokémon, who was currently eyeing the nutritious bulb on the back of the plant dinosaur. He was trying to sneak a quick lick of the sap formed in that bulb. Heracross is presumably one of Ash's wildest cards. He was easy to be overlooked by trainers in a battle, owing to his goofy nature. However, all that physical training with Ash and his Pokémon years ago turned him into a resilient bug type ready to take on any Pokémon, even the fire and flying types, if he wasn't too distracted by sap.

Distant from everyone stood one of his most determined Pokémon, Tauros, the Wild Bull Pokémon. He is the herd leader of the dozens of Tauros rampaging across the ranch. He was more of a loner and liked to stay by himself when not training with the other Pokémon, not that he resented them in any way. He was just a stereotypical introvert.

Then was the Gecko Pokémon, standing tall with a serious look while he chewed on a twig, the Hoenn powerhouse, Sceptile. He is Ash's fastest land Pokémon second only to Pikachu. Sceptile's determination and willingness to cross his limits every time made him a real threat in any battle. His fierce nature and distinct jumping ability made sure he was equally a threat in the air as much as on land.

Behind everyone stood Ash's laziest Pokémon, the humongous beast, Snorlax, the Sleeping Pokémon, with an unreadable look on his face. Spending most of his time eating or loafing around in the ranch, one could easily mistake the giant to be a pushover but his record spoke otherwise with hardly any defeats in the few battles he had been.

Next in view was his fighting machine, Primeape, the Pig Monkey Pokémon. He spent most of his time training with Anthony to accomplish his dream of becoming the Kanto P1 Champion, soon after his introduction to the sport. He had finished his training last week and has now returned to reunite with Ash and help him accomplish his dream. He wanted to repay his trainer for all that he has done for him ever since he met the raven-haired trainer. Ash almost killed himself trying to protect him once and that was a huge debt to repay, if he ever could. A fiery and aggressive nature, naturally fast on the field, and being the P1 Champion twice in a row now spoke volumes of his potential.

The last two Pokémon were his flying types, both boasting some incredible records and accomplishments under their belt.

His Shiny Pidgeot, the Bird Pokémon, was his fastest, period. Clocking speeds of up to Mach 2 in the air, a vast number of unique moves, and incredible aerial mobility, Pidgeot was twice the Pokémon than her average counterpart. Being a shiny 'mon, she also attracts many eyes with mixed emotions of admiration or jealousy, usually the latter.

Lastly was his Charizard, the Flame Pokémon, Ash's loyal fire dragon and evidently his strongest in his team. None can rival the determination and heart for battle displayed by Charizard. He had dedicated his entire life to be strong and powerful which made him disobey Ash for a long time, initially thinking he was too strong to obey his trainer. However, an incident during their Orange Islands journey changed everything. His loyalty towards Ash is unparalleled except maybe by Pikachu. He recently completed his training at the Charcific Valley defeating every one of the Charizards there were. In the Battle Frontier, he alone took down two legendaries by himself namely, Noland's Articuno and Brendan's Regice. Now he just wants to follow Ash loyally to wherever he went and whatever he wished. He did save his life, after all, twice to be precise.

After his Pokémon settled down, Ash then went on to explain the reason for his appearance. The moment he announced that they were going on a new journey, all his Pokémon went haywire, roaring and cheering in excitement. They did not question where or when they were going but were just happy to be traveling with their trainer again, which was all they ever wanted.

It was nightfall at Pallet Town, Ash's hometown. He had just finished with his dinner and was taking a long walk through the silent streets of Pallet Town along with his partner, Pikachu. Since he had nothing much else to do, he began thinking of the weird dream he had this morning. He told Pikachu of the dream and the yellow mouse had nothing much to comment on it, how could he? It was a weird dream with no rationale whatsoever behind. Ash did not know what to call it. Was it a vision of the future or a dream? Did it mean something or completely redundant? Should he tell someone about it or not? Such questions continued to plague his mind as he marched onward.

Adding to the persisting doubts there were some other details that Ash saw in the dream which haunted him. The death of all his friends and the annihilation brought about by some mysterious dark orb were visions difficult to be overlooked. What was troubling him the most was that sinister voice which he heard. He was quite sure that the voice was addressing him and if that was so, then why did the voice call him the chosen one? Many questions tormented him as he walked through, cutting the mild breeze flowing against him.

Lost in his chain of notions, Ash did not realize where he was heading. Even Pikachu did not point out their aimless wander, leaving Ash to contemplate upon his thoughts and theories. A while later, both the trainer and his Pokémon found themselves in an empty clearing which was surrounded by thick and dense foliage. Neither did the raven-haired trainer nor the yellow mouse knew how they got there, but here they were, alone and isolated. Last they knew was that they left home to take a brief walk and now they found themselves wreathed within eerie darkness. A slight fear ran past both their bodies. Ash fluttered, believing that he was going to see those visions again while Pikachu was on guard to confront any threat ahead.

"Boo," a cute yet scary voice broke the thoughts of the two partners from behind, startling them off their feet. Ash immediately jerked forward in fear and fell face first on the ground while Pikachu sent a reflexive thunderbolt electrocuting anything in the vicinity, Ash included.

Ash quickly dusted his charred face in panic and looked in the direction of the voice, fear still looming over him. He was on the ground when he saw a small silhouette of some creature levitating in the air, possibly a Pokémon or possibly not. The thick canopy, preventing the moonlight from entering the clearing restricted him from recognizing the distant figure. He trembled in fear, "Ge…ge…get ready, Pi…Pikachu," he paled.

Pikachu began emitting static from his tiny cheek sacs, ready to defend his trainer at all costs. He then growled, "Come out you piece of shit."

"Oh…you think you can take me down? How sweet?" the voice giggled as the figure approached forward, sailing through the air. This time Ash recognized the voice. He has heard it before during his time at the Rota Kingdom.

As the silhouette neared him, his surrounding began glowing in dull pink allowing him to recognize the figure. Before him stood a pink bipedal Pokémon, it had a short and wide snout, triangular ears and large blue eyes. It also had small-fingered paws and a long tail ending in an ovoid tip. It was the Super Legendary, DNA Pokémon, Mew. The same Pokémon he helped to save at the Tree of Beginning. But what was she doing here? Shouldn't she be at the Tree of Beginning? "Mew?" he called, exhaling his held breath in relief.

"That's me," Mew giggled again as she did a three-sixty turn while floating in midair. She closed in towards the raven-haired trainer and giggled again, "You should have seen your face, hehe."

"Very funny Mew," Ash pursed his lips as he folded his arms in annoyance. Mew almost scared him to death just for fun? was she really a legendary Pokémon?

Pikachu got excited at the sudden appearance of Mew and went ahead to greet her in delight. Their time spent at the Tree of Beginning fostered a deep bond and friendship between them. In spite of being abducted, the yellow mouse did have fun with the DNA Pokémon. Mew quickly hovered towards Pikachu as she saw him began playing with him, completely forgetting the reason for her travel here.

Ash saw Mew soar up and down taunting his yellow mouse to catch her. He chuckled at the legendry's antics and got up from the ground. He dusted his hands and said, "It's good to seeing you again," earning the attention of the DNA Pokémon. He could not stay angry at Mew for scaring him, hell he could never get angry at any Pokémon. That was who he was and who he would be.

No sooner did Mew hear Ash than she halted her play with the yellow mouse, she levitated towards him, and grinned with a quick succession of nods, "Good seeing you too…Oh Chosen One," she winked.

Ash was taken aback by Mew's words. How did she know about his dream? Was she the reason behind him having it? Or did she read his mind? He decided to ask. "How…how…"

"Did I know?" Mew finished the raven-haired trainer's question. She giggled again, "You were called that before too, you know. Forgot Shamouti Island?"

Realization dawned upon Ash as he listened to Mew's words. Yes, he was called The Chosen One before, how could he forget the ancient prophecy of the Orange Archipelagos. He did team up with Team Rocket and saved Lugia and the weather trio from the clutches of Lawrence, the Pokémon Collector. Wait, did that mean, he really was the Chosen One? Then what he saw in his dream must mean something since he was called the same in his vision. If so, then would he lose all his friends and family? Would his vision come true? Would the world really end?

"Your dream is the future, Ash," Mew muttered sadly with a slight nod. "I know what you are thinking. If you want to stop the future you saw, you have to go to Assumption Island soon."

Ash was flabbergasted that Mew actually read his mind. Maybe, being a legendary and a psychic type allowed her to do that. But what was this Assumption Island she spoke about? Everything was happening too quickly for him to comprehend. Firstly, Mew comes out of nowhere, next she addresses his as the chosen one and mentions about his dream and now she tells him about some island? What was happening?

Wanting to clear his raising doubts, he went ahead and asked her more about the Island, the future and what should he do to save his loved ones. Mew patiently answered most of his questions regarding his dream and his future but unfortunately, the raven-haired trainer couldn't grasp most of it due to the evasive nature of Mew's answers. If he really was the Chosen One then he should know more. Answers were what he wanted and Mew denied him exactly those.

"All in due time, Ash," she said as she hovered aback.

"Mew wait," he yelled but in vain. A gentle breeze struck his face as he looked in the direction the DNA Pokémon went.

Mew had disappeared into the darkness.

Ash was left confused along with Pikachu who was in the same state. Both could not put their finger (paw in Pikachu's case) onto what Mew said and wanted them to do. What was at this Assumption Island? How could he save the world? He was just a boy who loved Pokémon, that's all. He wished Mew gave him more information but all she told him was to keep this conversation a secret and to go to Assumption Island and train there, which wasn't enough for him. He wanted to know more. He wanted to know everything about his dream, especially that dark orb. He was still left with the same questions he had before. Well, if he really was the Chosen One then he probably would find out more when he reached the island. That's what he thought. Mew did mention that the island was between Orange Archipelagos and Kanto, so it wasn't too far away. Now that he had this new task on hand, he probably should hold his Kalos trip, for a while at least. With that decision made, he and his yellow partner began walking towards their residence.

"Ash," Delia shouted from the living room as she faced the stairs leading to her son's room. She has just received news that her brother, Lance, the Kanto Champion is going to pay a visit, ergo she wanted Ash to wake up soon and get freshened. Being a Champion Lance barely got time with family while, Ash and she were the only family he had. Time was quite precious to Lance and Delia didn't want her brother to squander any of it, particularly if it was going to be wasted waiting for Ash to wake up. Arceus only knows how lazy this boy gets, when not on a journey. How does one even change from being so punctual to being so torpid? It was beyond Delia's apprehension. She patiently waited for a few seconds before taking matters into her own hands, she had been yelling for a while now and got no response from upstairs, neither from Pikachu nor Ash.

She marched upstairs with a stern look and then barged into her son's room, knocking would do no good. She took a quick look at her surroundings and witnessed Ash on the bed, snoring under a blanket covering his face with Pikachu sleeping on top of him.

Delia walked towards her son wondering what would happen if one night, during one of Ash's journeys, somebody sneaked up on him with malice or any ill intention? Pikachu was doing no good. The yellow mouse does not even know that she had entered the room. Just when she was about to get closer and yank the blanket off Ash, she saw Pikachu's ears twitch. She did not know what happened but next second, she found herself gravitating to the ground followed by a high pitch squeak and an electrocuted Ash. Maybe, Ash was safe during his journeys after all.

"What was that for Pikachu?" Ask muttered in pain. The morning shocks were the worst.

"Sorry Ash," Pikachu apologized with a regretful look. "I was startled by your mom and then my reflexes kicked in."

"Mom?" Ash questioned as he rubbed his eyes and turned his sight sideways. He saw his mother sitting on the floor massage her back, probably due to a slight pain caused by the sudden jerk she received. "Mom are you alright, you're not hurt, are you?" he panicked.

"I'm fine Ash," Delia smiled, she loved every time her son showed concern towards her. She chafed off the pain and was soon back on her feet. That fall was not going to hurt her. she had been through worse during her journeys in her youth. "Lance called Ash. He is coming to pay a visit in about an hour, so you better move that butt."

"Uncle Lance is coming?" Ash reiterated his mom's words in excitement, the last he saw his uncle was two years ago after his Johto journey "Then, I'll meet you downstairs mom," he said and jumped out of his bed. Delia exited the room leaving Ash with his morning chores.

It was early afternoon at the Ketchums' Residence. Sitting in the living room were Ash, Delia, and Lance who were sipping on some tea made by Delia. The three humans were involved in small talk while Pikachu was glued to the TV screen watching his favorite show, KPA Tournament, distant from any conversation.

"So, Ash," Lance addressed his nephew trying to switch from the mundane topics, "Have you decided which region you are going to journey next?"

"Kalos Lance," Delia answered for her son as she continued to sip her tea. Ash had informed her yesterday on his decision to visit Kalos and journey with Serena. She displayed quite a bit of felicity on her son's commitment to meeting his childhood friend. Something which Ash still could not perceive, why.

"Uh," Ash sweatdropped. His mother did not know of his change of plans yet, so he better informed her now, "Actually, I am not going to Kalos."

Delia gave him an astonished yet inquisitive look and asked, "Didn't you tell me yesterday that you were going?"

"I did but I changed my decision," Ash replied as he sipped on his tea, "Pikachu and I have decided to train at Assumption Island," he declared. Since Mew told him not to mention about their conversation, he deliberately avoided that part. He had no intention of crossing against the legendary Pokémon.

"What and where is this Assumption Island?" Delia asked as she placed her empty teacup on the table before her. "What about Serena then? You did promise her you'd visit, didn't you?"

"I did, but I think I can convince her. Besides, I want to get stronger and I was told Assumption Island is the best place for it," Ash replied as he too finished with his tea. Just then, Pikachu hopped into his lap since the KPA telecast has just ended. Ash then began stroking his partner's fur.

"Do you know anything about the Island, Ash," Lance asked his nephew with a knowing look, "and who told you about this island?" he demanded.

"I know that it is between Orange Archipelago and Kanto Region," Ash replied evading the second question. He had no intention of revealing from where he got that information. "Do you know more about it?" he asked his uncle. Being the Kanto Champion, his uncle had to have some idea about it, he guessed. Additionally, his question would keep his uncle diverted from the source of his information.

"In fact, I do. It is a small independent Island between Kanto and Orange Isles," Lance explained with a nod, completely unaware of Ash's trap, "It is devoid of any human presence and is filled with very strong Pokémon, excellent to train against."

"So, it is safe you say?" Delia asked her brother. She was glad that the island is not too far from the home region. Now, Ash's safety was the last confirmation she required.

"Safe? It is anything but safe," Lance remarked, he frowned and continued, "The Pokémon on the island are stronger than any wild ones you'll find. The trainers who go to train there return back in a week, even my elite four probably wouldn't survive for more than a month there."

That did it. "You are not going, Ash!" Delia declared forbidding her son from doing something which could only cause pain.

"But mom..." Ash tried to reason.

"No buts mister," Delia cut her son off as she rose up from her seat, "A no means a No," she declared and then immediately walked out the room wanting to avoid any more discussion on this topic.

Lance looked back at his nephew who had a completely crestfallen expression tattooed to his face on his mother's adamant behavior. He nodded to himself and said to his nephew, "I'll go talk to her." He got up and followed Delia leaving Ash to his thoughts.

A little while later, Ash was petting Pikachu while sitting on the couch. He felt devasted that his mom barred him from going to Assumption Island. He wished that his uncle Lance would talk his mom out of it. However, knowing his mother, he didn't think his uncle's persuasion would have much effect on her. He was in deep thought. He gave Mew his word that he would visit Assumption Island and train there. He never foresaw a situation like this, but he had to do something. He wasn't going there searching for danger or get stronger, although he wouldn't mind that, he just wanted to know more about his future. If a Legendary Pokémon like Mew wanted him to visit there, then there must be a strong reason behind it. Besides, if his nightmare was any true then he had to make a visit to the Island to know more about it. He decided that if his mom still remains stubborn on her decision then he would escape there at night while she was asleep. He had to do this. He had to learn more about the future. He had to protect his friends and family.

As he was lost in his ruminations as his mother and uncle have just entered the living room. His mother had an unreadable expression on her face while his uncle had a triumphant smirk.

"Three conditions Ash," his mother stated as she walked towards him.

"What conditions and for what?" Ash asked as he eyed his mother. What did she mean?

"If you want to go to Assumption Island, I'll allow under three conditions. No questions."

"Alright," Ash exclaimed in euphoria as he sprang up from his seat. He did not anticipate his mom to agree so quickly. His uncle ought to have had something to do with this. No wonder he had that smirk on his face. "Anything mom, just tell me." That was a mistake which he didn't realize yet.

"First, you'll answer every time I call you on you PokeNav, no excuses or else, Lance here will come to get you the next moment."

"Okay, next."

"You'll call for help when you need it. I do not want you trying to be a hero every minute. Lance suggested he'd keep your calls on alert and would at least send someone else, in case he is unavailable then."

"That is alright, the third?" Big mistake Ash.

"You'll wear clean underwear every day," Delia spat out bursting into laughter along with both Pikachu and Lance. Boy, what a moment.

"Mom!" Ash shrieked in embarrassment. His mom did this to him every time. He had no move left to play. His mother checkmated him with one line. He looked at Pikachu and Lance who were both still laughing their hearts out. He then later composed himself getting rid of his mortified look and asked, "Wait, does that mean I can go?" He wanted to make sure he got everything right.

"You better do," Delia commanded with her hands on her hips, ending her brief amusement with her son, "I want to see my son become a Pokémon Master after all."

On hearing his mother permit him, Ash quickly rushed to give his mom a big hug. "Thanks, mom. It really means a lot to me." Pikachu followed suit and nuzzled his cheek against Delia in affection.

"You're welcome Ash," Delia smiled returning the hug from her son. She then turned her attention towards the yellow mouse currently perched upon her shoulder and stroked his fur, "Your welcome too Pikachu."

"Ahem, ahem," Lance coughed, clearing his throat and breaking the family moment, but Delia had other plans. She held Lance's hand and dragged him into joining the family group hug, which Lance surely had an option to decline.

Ash stood on the deck of the Titan Cruise which was presently heading towards the Orange Archipelago. He was dwelling on the few events which had occurred over the past week.

Firstly, his uncle Lance had pulled a few strings and convinced the cruise caption to take a quick halt at Assumption Island. Due to the Kanto Champion's involvement, neither the cruise's holding company nor the captain made any objections. In fact, he received special treatment on the cruise from exotic breakfasts, a VIP room, access to everywhere on the cruise, etcetera.

Secondly, his call to Serena. Naturally, the honey blonde was extremely displeased that Ash wasn't coming to Kalos. She pleaded him to reconsider his changed decision, almost crying over it. However, due to the promise Ash made to Mew and his thirst for knowing more about the future, he had to turn down Serena's request. But not before promising her that his next journey would be Kalos and no other region. Since he did wait for about four years for her to graduate and travel with him, he somehow persuaded her using that excuse to wait a little longer. When he told her that this was important to him and cannot bail on it at any cost, she somehow got convinced and decided to wait for his arrival.

Lastly, before Ash got on the cruise, there was one thing which worried him, whether he'd be able to take all his Pokémon with him or not. That was when professor Oak came to his rescue. Turns out, all the professor had to do was deactivate his license temporarily and he would be able to carry as many Pokémon he could with him but it came at a certain cost. He would be unable to use his trainer license or partake in any league nominated tournaments and other facilities. But it hardly made any difference to him since he had no plans of doing so for now.

It had been a day short of a week since the raven-haired trainer began his journey to the Assumption Island. He was told that the island was just a couple of hours away now, unable to contain his exhilaration, he decided to stay on the deck of the cruise and watch the sea while he waited for his destination to arrive. He was currently leaning against the safety railing watching his Pidgeot and Charizard having a sky battle as swift gusts of wind whistled past his ears. Ash had let his Pokémon out and told them to do as they pleased since they had nothing much else to kill time. Other than his Tauros who preferred to rest and Snorlax who decided to stay at the ranch the rest were out on the deck. Muk was never much of a battler unless specifically needed so he left him with the professor, with whom he preferred to stay. Charizard and Pidgeot opted to train while the rest were having a gala time. Bayleef was busy sunbathing and was later joined in by Sceptile who was trying to get some fresh air. Squirtle was out of the cruise swimming in the ocean, he didn't bother much of being left behind, he could catch up to the cruise's speed in his sleep if he wanted. Pikachu teamed up with Bulbasaur against Glalie and Primeape in a beach ball match while Heracross assumed the role of referee. All this drew quite some attention from the co-travelers on the cruise, not every day one got to see so many diverse Pokémon at one place. Finally, was Ash's Totodile who put on a juggling show for the fellow passengers, he sure loves to grab attention when he could.

Several minutes later a huge island came within the view of the raven-haired trainer, it was the biggest island he came across while on this cruise. This could be it, the Assumption Island. If yes, it sure seems to have all kinds of Pokémon. He just cannot wait to get there.

"That's Assumption Island," the ship captain said as he walked towards the raven-haired trainer, interrupting his thoughts. The captain usually hung out with the passengers while the deputy captain was in charge of steering the cruise. It was only in grave circumstances or inclement weather did the captain take charge. "I thought you'd want to know," the captain explained.

"I thought so," Ash replied addressing the captain. The captain had been very helpful over the last few days, it seemed that his son was a huge fan of Ash's at the Pokémon League and given the fact that Lance put in his word, he felt he was getting a little too much attention.

"So, you'll train there, huh?" Captain noted with a little concern as he stroked his chin in thought. "You should be careful kid, it's a little dangerous out there," he warned.

"I understand Captain but I'll have my Pokémon with me so it'll all work out fine," Ash replied with a genuine smile, "Thanks for your concern anyway."

"Hmm… your Pokémon sure look strong. You know what?" Captain said, "I think you might survive after all."

"I think so too Captain" Ash added his own thoughts.
