James and Ororo were walking up to the mansion where Xavier and Rogue were waiting. Ororo, Storm was dressed in blue jeans, sandals, and a pink t-shirt, while James, Wolverine, was in blue jeans, cowboy boots, brown leather jacket over a white t-shirt, and a cowboy hat.
"Hello Mr. and Mrs. Howlett." said Xavier politely.
"Hey professor." said Ororo hugging him and Rogue tightly.
"Been what, six years now?" asked James smiling at him.
"Far too long for my counting. So how have you two been?" asked Xavier. James looked down at his right leg.
"Come on out." he said. They watched as a very young boy walked out from behind James's leg. He had short black hair, a red t-shirt, blue jeans and little sneakers; he was almost the spitting image of a young, less hairy, James. Rogue immediately noticed two particularly strange details: he had black wolf ears, and a grey, bushy tail.
"Ooooh, isn't he the cutest little thing!" said Rogue happily, making him blush.
"Tell 'em yer name son." said James looking down at him. The boy looked down at the ground as he spoke.
"I'm Draden." he said more at a whisper.
"He's a little shy." said Ororo.
"Well, let's go inside, no sense staying out here in the hot sun." said Xavier.
Inside the mansion, they had a quick tour, since they had done a little remodeling, then James went with Xavier inside his office while Ororo stayed with Draden and Rogue.
"What can I do for you James?" asked the professor.
"Prof, as you can see, Draden's mutation has already started. Why? I thought it wasn't supposed to start until he was a teenager." said James after he sat down.
"Well, why it is more common for a mutation to take effect in the teen years, it is rare, but not unheard of for them to start from birth. When did his first start?"
"When he was born. I had to keep a close eye on 'em to make sure the doctors didn't try anythin' stupid."
"Hm, why have you brought him here?"
"Well, he's s'posed t' start school soon. We wanted to have him to come here. We figured it was the safest place for 'em."
"I understand. I'll have Dr. McCoy give him a check up, and then we can discuss his stay."
"Thanks Prof, I owe ya." said James getting up and shaking his hand.
Meanwhile…
"Oo, oo, I can, um." Draden started to get excited, but stopped and thought hard. "Growl!" he said starting to make an adorable puppy growl, making Rogue and Ororo laugh. They were all sitting on a long sofa in the sitting room.
"He can also purr." stated Ororo smiling at Rogue, then looking down at her son. Draden stopped, and then just sat there. Rogue then started to hear the humming sound coming from him.
"He's a purrin' puppy." she said sweetly.
"Watch this." Ororo whispered. She reached down and started to scratch Draden's ear. Draden's right leg started to kick in pleasure. "James found this out when Draden couldn't reach an itch on the back of his head with his foot."
"Showin' 'em off?" asked James as he and Xavier entered the room.
--
"Okay, now stick out your tongue." said Hank. Draden stuck his tongue out. They were in the medical bay of the subbasement. Draden was sitting on a medical table with his mother standing behind him. James, Rogue and Xavier were waiting across the room.
"He's very healthy for his age. His bones are very strong, perhaps from you James. Next to his appearance, he has a mutation that allows him to heal a rapid rate, but it doesn't effect his aging, and it doesn't heal as fast as James's. His teeth are strong enough to cut through steel."
"But he can attend the school?" asked Ororo, looking at him expecting a good reply.
"My dear Ororo," Xavier said before any of them, "After all you've done for us in the past, you've no need to even ask."
