Summary: The sequel to A Caress of Flame Part II. This fic is focusing on Betsy and John while they deal with the aftermath of what happened to Amara.

~Chapter One~

Betsy walked down the street with no evident expression on her face. It seemed like that was the only expression she had since the battle which ended with several people dead, including Amara who died at her hands.

After packing her bags quickly after the fight, she fled New Orleans to a more familiar place. Her first though had been to go to New York to visit the professor and seek help for her troubled mind. She quickly changed her mind and opted for her homeland of England instead.

While she most likely would not be recognized due to her enormous change in which she was put into an Asian assassins body with purple hair and a tattoo over her eye, she still knew that if she ever wanted to be able to recover and begin to feel again, she needed to go home.

She had been there for a month already but had not yet visited her house. She feared the reaction of her brother. She knew that she would never heal enough on her own but was afraid of what Brian would think of her new body, and her newly broken mind.

In the back of her mind she knew that he would never judge or abandon her, but self doubt clouded her judgment.

She spotted a pub along the road and quickly decided to enter and try to calm her mind with alcohol. She entered, ignoring the inquiring looks of the locals, and sat at a stool at the bar.

She quickly ordered a shot of Bourbon, decided that the stronger the drink, the better it was. She seemed to not notice the appraising looks of the bartender as she downed her drink.

Later that night, after a deal more of Bourbon, she finally decided that she needed to go home and face her twin with hopes of acceptance.

A/N: Yep, I'm back after a long, long break. My dad's surgery went well, they removed the kidney that had the tumor in it and sent him home a weekend afterwards. I'm also doing a lot better in school....almost all A's, only a few B's. Anyways, review and tell me what you think of the first chapter.
