Eso Si Que Es!

"Harry! Hermione and I are going back to the castle. You coming?" Ron Weasley asked his best friend as they exited Honeydukes Sweetshop. It was the last Hogsmeade trip of the year.

"You go on ahead, Ron. I have some last minute shopping to do." Ron shrugged and followed Hermione back up to the castle. Harry turned to the left, walked past Zonko's Joke Shop, and into Gladrags Wizardwear. Glancing around the shop, he spotted just what he was looking for. 'Perfect!' he thought. He picked it up, purchased it, and walked back to the castle.

Albus Dumbledore woke up the next morning and found himself face to face with a beautiful snowy owl. She was standing on top of a small, brown-paper-wrapped parcel. Albus untied the string, freeing the raptor. She hooted softly and flew out of the open window.

Albus unwrapped the paper, revealing another package wrapped in an old issue of the Daily Prophet. He unwrapped the newspaper, and found another covering, this time a scrap of hunter green velvet. Smiling, he gently unfolded the fabric, uncovering a pair of thick woolen socks! They were gold and animated scarlet phoenixes flew around the socks.

Under the socks was a note. Albus set the socks aside and picked it up. All it said was

Use them well.

There wasn't any signature, but he could guess who it was from. He could see some writing on the back, so he turned the card over.

Happy Birthday, Professor Dumbledore!

Fawkes the Phoenix trilled as he glided over to Albus from his nest in the corner of the room. He settled on the footboard and looked at Albus. Fawkes then trilled a few more notes. "Thank you, my friend. Look what came in the post!" Albus held up the socks. Fawkes secretly rolled his eyes.

Albus pulled on the socks, marveling at their warmth. He quickly dressed and headed to the Great Hall for breakfast. As he walked into the hall, he spotted Harry Potter sitting with his friends. Harry looked up, caught Albus's gaze, and smiled. Albus nodded and continued to his seat.

Hope you enjoyed that short story. I felt like writing a birthday story, since today is my birthday. Thank you for reading.
