It has been everything but an ordinary day at the Alexandria Safe Zone. But I guess that life sort of stops having ordinary days when you live surrounded by walking bodies, that will try to eat you whenever possible. And no, I don't mean the good kind of eating someone (out).
The streets are filled with dead bodies. As I walk up the streets, I almost don't even look at them. We've lost so many, I don't know what I would do if I found Eugene, or Rosita, or even father Gabriel among them.
A door opens, and my hand is instinctively reaching for my knife. The brunette that walks out of that door is neither a walker, nor an intruder though.
"Tara! Thank God you're okay!" She runs up to me and hugs me so tightly that I almost ask her to loosen her grip. Almost.
"Has anyone from the group…" I didn't finish the question, but there was no real reason to. We both knew what I meant.
"Not that I know of." Maggie answers while her gaze is running over the dead Alexandrian woman in front of us.
"They didn't really have a chance, hah?" She adds and looks back at me.
"No, they weren't prepared for anything like this." I answered.
None of us feel the need to finish the conversation. Maggie just walks away and I start dragging the bodies onto the lawn outside the armory. It feels better to have them all in the same place.
At supper that night there are six of us missing; Rick, Glenn, Sasha, Abraham, Daryl and Michonne. Maggie finished her meal early and is now walking around aimlessly in the room. We all know what she's thinking, because we're all thinking the same exact thing. They should be back by now.
