He's spent most of his life searching for someone who could keep up with him, understand everything he says, know how his brain works, follow when his mind leaps from point A to point K, with a quick little sidetrip to Point X thrown in.
His way hasn't been easy, as a child or man—he'd often thought it'd be simpler to be alone, away from the society that only ever tried to weigh him down.
He never really liked people, found most annoying. And when he said what he thought, he often learned they disliked him back.
He began to think no equal existed, that he was alone in the world.
And then he met Leonard. Leonard listened to his tangents and could follow his process, could even suggest better ways. Leonard could explain normal people, and didn't mind. And, best of all, Leonard invited him to move in.
And Sheldon, for the first time he could remember, was truly happy.
He thought he finally knew what Mom'd meant by love.
