So here is my first author review hopefully not my last! Much like the game "Freedom Planet" to which are his best works, MixedFan has acquired a small cult following. So great are his works on Fanfiction and DeviantArt that he has actually inspired other people to make works of their own BASED on his fanfics.

That is the sign of a truly talented writer.

As for the stories themselves! They very easily transition from being light-hearted and fluffy to dark and menacing. The sign of a good writer for any field is to be able to handle different moods. The stories get very nasty very quickly, and often deal with issues such as torture, abuse, insanity, and violence, he seems to have a disturbing fetish for chaining girls up (just look at his pictures) despite this I never found the stories to be unbearably dark or relentlessly grim. As for the Original Characters (I.E OCs) where as his Sonic stories had quantity his Freedom Planet stories have quality. Not only are they legitimately good characters but they actually feel like they belong in the franchise, the problem with a lot of OCs is that they often don't feel like part of the franchise. MixedFan does not have such a problem, in fact his Freedom Planet OCs are so good that I would like to consider them cannon with the series in fact I hope the creators read the stories and MAKE them cannon with the series.

The stories are not without flaws. Mixed Fan repeats himself a lot and there isn't a whole lot in the way of plot twists, with an over-use of foreshadowing and a habit of telling instead of showing a lot of the supposedly BIG plot twists can be seen a mile off. Not to say the stories are DEVOID of plot-twists he actually has some good ones, it's just that the ones that were planned to be big usually turn out to be "yeah I saw that coming". For the sake of spoilers I won't reveal them!

MixedFan is also a fairly talented artist, since this is an author review and not a drawing review I can't really say much. The pictures do add a good deal to the story and show the readers that he is willing to go an extra mile which is what his fans appreciate.

Given that both Sonic and Freedom Planet have very loose and vague storytelling it makes sense that a talented author can fill in the blanks and MixedFan manages to do that beautifully.
