Ross couldn't believe that he was even a part of this. What was he thinking? How could he ever think that this would work out for the best? This was a disaster. He had thought that maybe it could work out between the two of them, but he had forgotten about Susan. The woman who had broken up his marriage and now wanted to take his daughter away. Well fine! She could do just that. See if he cares.
As he turned around and threw the door open in anger, he heard a beeping sound. It was confusing. What could that possibly be? Then he turned around. And he saw it. It being possibly being the most beautiful thing on the planet, and she came from him. How could he have created something so beautiful?
He let go of the door knob in wonder and walked in closer, right next to Susan of all people, but he didn't care. His hand reached out and clasped the closest thing to him, a hand, whose it was he didn't care. Then of course, he would go home and smell the musky hand lotion, and realize he had clutched hands with Susan willingly.
But in that moment, he forgot all about Carol being a lesbian and leaving him for Susan and raising the baby with her. That sonogram, that one beautiful image of his daughter was enough to give him hope. That yes, okay, he would be a father in a family of three. And yes, maybe she wouldn't share his last name. But she would be his.
