I'm excited and flattered about Aloha Normero being part of the #wattys2019. I doubt it will win. I am flattered and humbled just to be nominated. LMAO. I know people always say that when they're nominated for awards, and usually they're just blowing smoke, but I swear, in this case, it's true. There are too many great stories out there for this little one to stand out. And besides, I suspect it's too niche to win an award from a very popular, diverse, mainstream website like Wattpad. Nevertheless, as I said, sincerely, I'm very flattered and excited just to be included.

So let's refresh on the story so far. After chapter 17, I published a recap of the story to that point. You can read that here: s/13254138/18/Aloha-Normero

From that point, here's another recap:

We see Alex declaring his love for Norma, Norma reciprocating.

Then John Massett comes to town, at Dylan's invitation, and Norma's encouragement. He's a lawyer, a very rich one, and he has a lot of regret about the way he treated Norma and Dylan. He considers defending Norman as an act of atonement. A part of him suspects he might still be in love with Norma, but we haven't really explored John too deeply yet. He did somewhat threaten Alex in that he warned Alex if he, Alex, failed to step up to help Norma pay for Pineview, then he, John, would take up the baton, so to speak. The threat of losing Norma, to John, of all people, gave Alex the little shove he needed (the only thing he needed) to propel him into action. Alex can't let anyone usurp his place as Norma's lover, protector, and savior. John already got major 'knight in shining armor' points just by being Norman's lawyer, pro bono of course. Never to be outdone, Alex goes forth with as romantic a proposal of marriage as an unromantic, stoic bulldog of a sheriff is capable of doing. Norma accepts, and that's where we are.

Meanwhile, Norman is in jail, refuses to accept a visit from Norma, and has been evaluated by two psychiatrists. Dr. Edwards, of Pineview, has diagnosed him with primarily dissociative identity disorder and secondarily schizophrenia. The judge doesn't want to release Norman on bail due to his mental instability. John Massett is processing the papers to have Norma declared 18-year-old Norman's legal guardian.

Side story: Emma Decody has had her lung transplant. No more cystic fibrosis. Dylan is dividing his attentions between his new girlfriend and his incarcerated brother.
