For my readers, sorry for the long hiatus...

Oh and I don't own NCIS...

Once upon a time, I did have a heart …

Her head was lying on his chest and her messy red curls spread everywhere. Their legs were tangled together and their arms were wrapped around each other. The sheets were barely covering their warm glowing body.

At that time, she knew that she should tell him already that she was leaving because it's going to be harder if she prolonged it. But when she gathered all her courage after a long moment of silence, he blurted out "Marry me, Jen" as if it was the simplest combination of words in the world.

He noticed that she stiffened.

Well, that wasn't the best proposal ever but he really meant it. It was their last night together and he didn't want to go back where they were used to be as lead agent and junior agent. He wanted more. He wanted his relationship with her to last.

The hand that was combing her curls moved to tilt her chin to meet his ocean blue eyes. He repeated those words again in a much softer voice to let her know that he truly meant it. He didn't know what was going on in her head when her eyes started to form treacherous tears.

"You'll be the last," he added but it sounded like a plea to make her say yes or at least make her stay with him. The only answer that he got was a lone tear that escaped from her green orbs.

He had no idea why she had that kind of reaction but he waited to let his proposal sink in.

Things were not simple between them. He wasn't surprised that she will need some time to make a decision.

She was still debating if she should tell him now or say yes. She had never felt this unexplained feeling inside her before. She knew that she shouldn't be overruled by her emotions but it just felt so good to hear those words from this man in front of her. She imagined herself with their children after five or more years but she knew that that was just going to be a dream because of his track record with women.

She was still lost in those alluring blue eyes of his when she whispered his name.

He heard a hint of uncertainty underneath that her simple call of his name.

He held her tighter and she leaned to him closer until her lips were so close to his. They both stared at each other's eyes and his calloused hand stroke the dried tear on her cheek. With his gruff voice he whispered, "I'll always love you, Jen…" he confessed that not because he wanted to her to marry him but to assure her that whatever her decision is, he will always love her.

Her gaze never left his. "I know," she said. Her lips met his as she closed her eyes. The kiss was slow and passionate. She wanted to make it last. She wanted to make that night memorable because she knew that that was going to be their last night together and she didn't know if she would still see him in the future. He rolled her underneath him and she let him took control for the very last time.
